waking birds
take it as it comes
i think it's alright
pale morning
race me home
looking my way
life goes on
the sun shines out...
valerian (goodnight)
distant tales (2007)
a distant tale (of setting suns)
nature smiles
another song, another night
ride the buses
time for change
trouble
why can't we all get along?
to sleep is to dream
deserters (2005)
up and down and back again
years ago
tonight
apples in the sky
if you ever fall
sounds like emily
deserters are led by melbourne based singer/songwriter luke thomas (guitar/lead vocal, who also moonlights in other native melbourne acts the pictures and the ronson hangup). their music is a tapestry influenced by the likes of the beatles, neil finn, oasis, the band, the stone roses, wilco, the go-betweens and teenage fanclub.
the debut album pale morning is OUT NOW!
"homegrown talent often passes us by and 'pale morning' won't make a millionaire of luke thomas but you'll be all the richer for waking to it." - ej cartledge, inpress
"deserters' debut album is a lovely piece of work, both epic and concise. swinging between marvellous melancholic moments and glorious rock...the result is breezy and brilliant." - jeff jenkins, mag

through fleeting ruins and vast golden sands, there before you come deserters...
Hey, I was at The Pictures at Bondi taking photos. Midget. glasses. Great dress sense, haha. Anyway I hope I actually get to see you guys live. I get so jealous of bands in Melbourne. Sydney ain't got anything half as good. - Shanti
