Desmond Myers feels trapped between his past and his future. He’s a small town kid, with big time talent. The teen-phenom grew up on a family farm in rural North Carolina, where his imagination grabbed hold early and helped develop the creative skills he hopes will last a lifetime. Surrounded by nature and wide-open spaces, he was writing poems and short stories by age five. “Innate creativity” is how his mother explained it. On his eleventh birthday piano lessons ended and an electric guitar that his brother built took center stage. Within hours he was mimicking Jimi Hendrix songs, and his parents again realized their son’s special abilities. Fast forward to 2009, and the teen has two records and a host of accolades under his belt. An all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles as the winner of MUZAK’s 2007 Noise! Competition introduced him to industry professionals and opened his eyes to the business side of music. Now he talks about his band and his brand. “I want to be young and old at the same time,” he explains. “I like complexity, among simplicity.” His first solo record, “Home From Nowhere,” was released in October 2008 and addresses his unique situation. "My music has introduced me to new people and places, far from where I live. Sometimes I don’t feel closely connected to either group.(home life or traveling)” Through it all, however, Myers remains connected to his guitar and his songwriting. Insight as to where this up-and-comer is headed, musically speaking, can be found on the last track on his debut solo CD. “I'm really into "traditional pop", the songs of Cole Porter have had a huge influence on me as well as the piano-playing of Vince Guarldi” he said. For now Myers remains a young talent, with big dreams, in the middle of rural North Carolina. But he won’t be there long, as another great record and another new gig wait just around the corner.

Desmond Myers, you were truly sent from God. I miss you a lot. I hope all is well? And I hope to come to a show soon. As close as we live, there's no excuse for us not to see each other more than we have since Noise. :) Love, Caroline
Mr. Desmond Myers! Hows it been going? Long time no talk! Hope all is going well! See you got a bunch of shows lined up in the near future, we'll have to make it out to at least one of 'em man! -thepursuit
