Influences
The Beach Boys, Raymond Carver, All in the Family, that guy who's always at the bus stop, you know the one, on or about Towne and Foothill, been kicking around since the 70's, used to see him at the Music Plus bus stop a lot, but they're history now, kind of strange considering how much blow we all did in the 80's, staying up all night even though we had to open in the morning, get in there and there would always be the one stupid ass customer with a return, a Taylor Dayne 12" or some shit, we used to blast Run DMC and one day we just said the hell with it and we put on the Laker game, one of the Final games against the Celtics, Mary Cuevas got pissed but we ignored her, and who could forget when I poked the back door open a crack and the Alarm was standing there and I go, "Hey, the Alarm" and I ripped a big huge smelly fart but what I didn't know is that he was helping an old lady in the classical section, ain't that a bitch, Robin Harris, Gene Tracy, The Firesign Theater, Nolan Ryan, Richard Nixon, Mad Magazine, National Lampoon, Stripes, Zippy the Pinhead, and you know, like that
Sounds Like
Well, according to Woodbury the other night we sounded like shit because I was using the D-Squad microphone, which is all shot to hell, beaten down like a pizza and encrusted with the rancid goo of hundreds of past performances, I used it because I didn't want to fuck up Third Grade Teacher's mike, and then suddenly I hear Woodbury yelling at me and I scream "You Suck" I was introducing the song but he took it personally and after the show forced me into a big old scene right there by the full bar and I told him, "absolutely, I'm a total failure" you know and then he made it all about him, do you understand what that's all about? Well, the truth is we kick the shit of just about any band you could imagine, nobody will play after us and the ones that do have to step over our mess, the tortillas already brittle and hard, cans of syrup rolling around, and us off stage just laughing at them, it doesn't get any better than that I tell you, it just doesn't get any better than that!
