The Desperation String Band comes together out of desperation to play bluegrass, newgrass, acoustic and old time folk music.
Stemming from the Bakersfield Desperation String band of the early nineties- old pals Brian Flechsig (Wildweeds), Cliff Starbuck (Ekoostik Hookah) and John Armstrong (Local Color) have re-united to bring us this new and exciting line-up.
Cliff Starbuck of Ekoostik Hookah fame fills the banjo role and shares vocals with Brian and John. He also adds some baritone ukelele to some old folk songs. Brian Flechsig plays mandolin and resonator mandolin and shares in the singing duties. John Armstrong rounds out the bottom with his stellar string bass playing which he has been doing since he was a young boy. Dan Cade adds the blistering fiddle to the top and Ron Slone provides the Martin Guitar.
The band has been in intensive rehearsals for months and will now be playing in and around central ohio at a few select clubs as well as appearing at a few festivals this summer!
