Reviews For Our Album
“Crate digger and composer Kynan Robinson’s attention to detail is nothing short of extraordinary. So densely layered another nuance will reveal itself on every listen. The Adventures of Cowboy and Miniman is one of the most startlingly original electronica releases of 2008. And also one of the best.” Time Off Magazine
“Imagine the supremes getting done over by the N.E.R.D. boys …we may have discovered the next Avalanches.” The Onion
“Lovers of the GoTeam and the Avalanches will feel right at home here” Rave Magazine

Reviews The Mix review 2004
The final act, Old Des Peres, could well have earned the title of my new favourite band! Their live show, completely unique and unprecedented, can only be described as an incredibly bizarre fusion of highly charged, rock’n' dance beats (typically Melbourne in flavour) wickedly matched with stolen, familiar samples (ala Avalanches) with the furor and frenzy of a Public Enemy meets James Brown Gospel Revival. Throw in the antics of a Machine Gun Fellatio stage show, the twisted (and often meaningless) sick humour of a Sodom Circus performance and a blender or two (no joke) and you've got the next big thing in live dance music! honestly, you gotta catch these folks live.
MTV Magazine
It’s fast paced industrial dance pop with a raw bass beat. It’s easy to understand why ODP have a reputation for their live shows, as the tracks are vibrant and rockin – a welcome return to entertainment in dance music. Puts a smile on your face
Drink Magazine
This debut from Old Des Peres is a cauldron of styles, genres and tempos, ranging from chunky big beats, rolling restrained bass lines, ethereal female harmonies over dark squelchyness with myriad eclectic samples. Eminently playable, definitely danceable, and refreshingly original this album is both an affirmation of club culture and judgment on its vacuousness. A true homegrown top tip.
In The Mix Album Review
What we have here is an strikingly mature, at times touching debut release where an understated Detroit sentiment wins the day over brain numbing decadence. Think of the best moments from Felix’s Kittenz and the Glitz and mix in the intricate soundscapes of the Avalanches and you have in your hand one of the most original, interesting and thoughtful Australian releases this year.
Drum Media
Listening to their debut CD Preserved, you can hear everything from The Avalanches to Bjork to even remnants of the techno scene they emerged from. It’s when they play live however that the music is taken to another level
Inpress Album Review 2006
They’ve removed the Old from their moniker after 2004’s Preserved an album that was an introduction to the unique world that was Des Peres. Ace Doubt is a chaotic multi layered beast, much more confident than its predecessor, with the group much more interested in taking some more sonic risks this time around. To many outfits meld samples with live playing and vocals, yet Des Peres seems to effortlessly weave the samples into their sound, existing purely at service to the larger song and the distinctive Des Peres approach to music. Yet what is it? I’ve been listening for weeks and I’m still not entirely sure. A strange form of electro funk? It’s poppy, strangely catchy yet still all over the shop. It’s bursting with energy, cool funky loops over which they rap, spit and get all melodious, it’s colliding with genres, everything from jazz to funk, hip hop, soul, cinematic ambience and electronica, yet it never really aligns itself to any one of these worlds and it is this confusion that maintains the interest. Des Peres have created some kind of confusing yet lovable bastard fusion. Every time you listen it feels like something else. And aside from this confusion you are left with this residue of chaotic energy. What this all means however I am not entirely sure. And that can only be a good thing. ,
Des Peres have been doing there thing since 2001. Having released their first album "Preserved" on Shock records in 2004 they have just recently released their second through Flict/MGM. The sample heavy album entitled "Ace Doubt" has already been critically acclaimed in Australia as a completely new take on the electronic/hip hop genre.
OOOO AAAA that all sounded lovely didnt it but untill you have EXPERIENCED us live you have no idea about DES PERES, theres Mr ECtion Preaching up a storm, Little Tom unleashing a wall of mystical sound from his Guitar Kelsi subdueing with her sexy vocals and very white dress Des Screaming abuse at his band while letting loose a thousands of samples filled with the funk that fills dance halls and all while pounding at solos on A TROMBONE. But all this pales to nothing and hardly anyone notices because most eyes and ears are glued firmly on the being that comes from another place LUVA DJ. Think of all you know about the DJ and apply non of those thoughts here. This is a mix of Jonny Rotten with Princess DI (Reiff Magazine) Our new album "The Adventures of Cowboy and Miniman" is set to be launched nationally on August 30. Out through House of Pow/Amphead Music
