關於我: Thanks for stopping by the Destin's Really Really Free Market page... Please check back often for updates on the next market - OUR CURRENT NEXT MARKET IS ON SUNDAY, July 12th - as always it will be held at Clement Taylor Park (Calhoun Park) and will start around noon and run until the sun goes down. This market has no official organization in charge of putting things together, spreading the word about the market or in charge of the items. It's all volunteer and all volunteers are welcome... If you cannot attend the market please don't think that you cannot help us... there are many of ways -
I first wanted to talk about how this market got started and what it's here for. The concept is not ours and Free Markets have been running in other city's around the U.S. for years.
The idea is easy, if you have things you no longer need - bring them.
If there are things you find at the market that you need - take them.
If you have a skill you can teach - teach it.
If there is a teacher at the market - learn from them.
If you know how to entertain - entertain us.
If you're bored - come be entertained.
If there is nothing you have to give and nothing you need to take - just come have a great day in the park - even that's free...
There is no money to be exchanged, trading to be talked of or bartering. This is truly a REALLY REALLY FREE MARKET!!! If you feel obligated to bring things because you feel bad taking without giving, you have the wrong idea of what this is. This market is here to change the way capitalism has forced us to live.
We are an extremely wasteful city, the concept of building a multi-million dollar palace next to the bridge where homeless people sleep is horrid!!!
Thinking money should predict who gets what and what class we are in is spreading though this city and that idea is horrid!!!
Believing that excess and gluttony are virtues and poverty and living to ones means are sins is horrid!!!
Yet this city is filled with SUV's, mansions where beaches were and more waste than countries consume. We are living in a very consumer driven city and it's the whole idea that we are trying to change. So if you come to the market with the capitalistic ideas, the market won't work. It's the idea that we are hoping to bring more than the free stuff and food. Destin use to be a town where people knew each other and gave to those in need... that's what we are trying to do with this market. Get the idea out there that you don't need what you want and shouldn't take what you don't need. You should give what you want but, don't need and only consume what you need.

We will gather together on the longest, hardest night of the year, On December 21st, We will walk to show support for those who have nothing but the city and the streets to call home. And for all the lives the streets have claimed
We walk because poverty is not a crime!!! Just because a man has less, do not make them less of a man
The candle lit Walk will start sun down at the park next the Fort Walton Beach Police department and end at the Fort Walton Beach landing.
A pot luck dinner will be held. We have live music and guest speaker Closes food dive.
