I love God, nature, sports, and enjoy reading my friends blogs. I believe in passing on positive information, whether it be inspirational or just good-natured jokes! I have several causes that interest me. I'm very concerned about the mistreatment of others, especially children and all forms of abuse. Whenever I see something that might help others, I like to post it.

Smooth Jazz, R & B, Soft Rock, Contemporary Country, Contemporary Christian Music, World Music, Blues, Classical, New Age and yes even a little Hip Hop/Rap. Mostly I enjoy good instrumentation, a good beat and when there are lyrics, ones that make sense.. ;)
Movies
Action/Adventure, Sappy Chic Flicks, Romantic Comedies, Historical.. hmmm pretty broad spectrum here. I stay away from Horror/slasher type films but do like some that are a little on the eerie side. Most recent movie I saw and really enjoyed was Batman Begins. Very well done! Before that I just had to see Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith.. yep I'm a SW fan! I have a collection of mostly DVDs with my last purchase being the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Notebook has got to be the most sentimental romantic movie I have (I think it beat out Titanic!)
Television
I've gotten hooked on Heroes, Journeyman, Chuck, Bionic Woman.. I hope they all come back after the break! Other than that I catch Law & Order SVU. I'm getting rather tired of all the reality shows, are they really real? Too much drama in them for me..
Books
I don't have much time to read books these days. I do so much reading at work as I deal with patents and trademarks. I'm the type of person if I get engrossed in a book, it is hard to put it down. I usually enjoy historical romances, mysteries or true stories.
Heroes
Heroes to me are not the popular actors/actresses or sports stars. To me a real hero is someone that does something for the good of all. Someone that makes a difference in this world. True heroes are those that do what nobody else wants to do. Protecting our country, serving others, being selfless and most often nameless.
Sometimes people in our own families can be our best hero, someone you can look up to and attempt to emulate. Sometimes it's a complete stranger that happens to be in the right time and the right place to offer a helping hand or words of encouragement or just there when you need them the most.
I like to be creative and try different things such as drawing, painting or "foto fun". If you would like me to do one for you, let me know!
It's really hard for me to write about me. Who am I? What am I like? I think every person I know sees a different facet of my personality. I prefer to get to know people on an individual basis rather than posting who I am on the internet.
Two Wolves One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.
One is called "Bad": It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is called "Good": It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
Who I'd like to meet: I'd like to meet people that are real. I'm not interested in people that measure themselves by their possessions. I'm more interested in people that are sincere, friendly, approachable and can get into serious conversation without feeling like they have to win. My most important relationship is the one that I have with the Lord. I have friends from all walks of life, some Christian, some non-Christian. I'm not preachy and I believe that each is entitled to the their own beliefs. After all we were given free will, weren't we? I'm certainly not perfect and I certainly don't expect others to be.
I have found my special guy, or should I say he has found me? He is my soulmate and my new husband!
PLEASE NOTE: I add friends because of something in their profile or blogs that holds my interest. I also like to send greetings and emails, in other words keep in touch as much as I can. If you are interested in adding me as a friend, it would be nice if you could let me know what interests you. Feel free to subscribe to my blogs, message me or post comments as I do the same.
No need to display my friends, you know who you are!
Sometimes in life it seems as though we are caught in an unending loop. We try to make positive changes in our lives, but we end up right back where we started.
I am speaking from personal experience here. I can tell you that positive change is possible, and that you can break out of those seemingly unending loops. Just keep trying, and eventually when the timing is right, you will make that change that you desire.
I hope that you have a great weekend, and a great loop-free week.
I was reading something recently and it reminded me of something that happened to me in my childhood. When I was growing up I had a big maple tree in my back yard. That tree was where I had a swing, and it was also my favorite tree to climb in.
Now one of the first times that I climbed in this tree I made the mistake of climbing really high in the tree, hanging from one of the limbs, and then looking down. BIG MISTAKE!! I was frozen with fear. I gripped the tree limb so tight that my knuckles turned white. My best friend saw me hanging there and he told me “let go, and you’ll be all right”. I hung on even tighter. Then finally I grew so tired that the only thing that I could do was let go. Of course, the height was not as much as I thought. I picked myself up off the ground, brushed myself off, and I was fine.
This story illustrates what happens in our lives. We try to do things our way and get into trouble. Then, when we have to face the fear of our situation we hold on with a white-knuckle grip. We must understand that we have to sometimes just “let go”, and we will be OK.
I hope that you have a great weekend and a great week.
It's been a long while since we connected and thought I would drop by and say Hi. The past months have kept me on my toes and have seen tremendous personal growth. I'm a new person; God is so good! I'll be starting back to school soon and will be pursuing an RN degree with a passion. I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up. I started working with a Hospice care organization last October and have found my niche in life. I absolutely love what I do. It feels so good to be able to say that. Hope all is well with you and with your sweetie. You deserve a life time of happiness. ~Marie~
One day I was talking with a friend of mine, and she asked me a very simple question; “What are you plans for the coming week?” I proceeded to name off all of the things that I had to accomplish, all of the things that I hoped to accomplish, and all of the things that I probably would not have the time to accomplish. Her only response to my rather lengthy to do list was “Don’t you ever take the time to do anything that you actually enjoy doing?”
She was so right! Most of us do not set aside time in our week to do things that we truly enjoy. It is a sad but true fact.
My friend knows me very well, and she reminded me that I really enjoy my photography, and I also enjoy field archery, but I have not taken the time to actually enjoy these things lately. Well, now that it has been pointed out to me, I think that it is high time to make a change. Now I will resolve to set some time out of my busy schedule to actually do something that I enjoy doing, and I challenge you to do the same.
I hope that you have a great weekend, and a great week to come. It’s time to get out and find something to truly enjoy.
If you look closely at the waterfall in the enclosed photos, you will notice a distinct difference in how the water looks. The difference is based on the amount of time that the shutter was open. It took me a while to learn this technique of freezing the motion of the water in an instant of time.
Time is something that I have been thinking a lot about in recent days. As many of you know from my update email, I have a lot more time on my hands now that I am working a new schedule. So, of course I am thinking a lot about how to best spend this new found time that I have.
I think that time is like a treasure. We only have a certain amount of it every day. If we waste this precious treasure called time we have no one to blame but ourselves.
I hope that you make the most of every second. Have a great weekend, and a great week to come.
I have been thinking a lot about the concept of change recently. I have been meeting with a group of friends once a week and we have been discussing how to best make some positives changes in our lives.
The Greek philosopher Heraclitus may not have been the first person to ponder the concept of change, but he gave us a nugget of truth in 474 BC that has lived on to this day. He said “The only constant is change”.
Things are always changing with us, in us, and around us. Just in recent history the entire human race has undergone many changes. We have been able to devise machines to help us achieve our goals. What happens to these machines when our goals change? They become relics of a bygone era.
The same thing can happen to us if we get in a rut and are unwilling to change. We ourselves can become relics. Don’t let this happen to you. Remain flexible and keep setting your sites on your goals.
I saw this car and I just had to grab a camera and take a few photos. I know that the car was meant to be a joke, but it still reminded me of how we sometimes get too wound up in our lives. We sometimes let our lives get to the point where it seems like we are no longer in control. We get wound up by the stress of work, family, or friends and that stress drives us in a direction that we do not want to go.
When this happens, we have to put ourselves back in the driver’s seat of our lives and stop letting others choose the direction that we will go.
I hope that in the coming week that you will be going in a direction of your choosing.
May people often get very wrapped up in there likes and dislikes. Take crowds for example. Some people really detest crowds, and there are those who even fear large groups of people. It is interesting though when you think about it that we humans are not the only species on the planet to have to deal with this problem. If you will look around you, there are many examples of “animal crowds”. That would seem to me to prove that crowds are just a part of the natural order of things.
I hope that each and every member of the “crowd” of people that I send this out to has a great week.
This week, I would like to try something a little different. I am in the process of trying to choose some photographs for upcoming art show. I would like all of you to help me in choosing the photo for the non-color photography category. Here are two of my possibilities. Send me a message, and cast your vote for your favorite one.
