About me: Greetings,
I would like to take the time out to introduce to you my theatre company, The Destiny Theatre Experience, which I launched in January of 2007. Since its inception, DTE has produced a number of shows including Charlayne Woodard’s “Pretty Fire" and “In Real Life,” Suzan-Lori Parks’s “365 Days/365 Plays” and her Pulitizer Award-winning “Topdog/Underdog," and my own plays "My Lover, My Best Friend, & My Roommate,"
"Dilemmas & Perspectives: Thru the Eyes of Men," "House of Harts" and "Never Been Home."
I started DTE for the sole purpose of taking my ‘destiny’ into my own hands and creating opportunities for myself and others. Instead of waiting around for someone to do a play I was interested in and then hoping that I got a part, I decided that I would produce the plays I wanted to see onstage. It was a way for me to empower myself and have more control over my career. As an African American, there are many great stories about the black experience that I want to tell. Many of them are unique and intriguing stories that have gone untold. I want to do my part in ensuring that these voices are heard. At the same time, I don’t plan to limit my company in any way. I do have plans to do shows that aren’t solely about the African American experience.
