In 1738 when Lewis Paul and John Wyatt patented the famous Roller Spinning machine, they began a long historical lineage of industrial and scientific innovation in Birmingham.

In 2007, following in the footsteps of their industrial forefathers, five Birmingham men have developed and perfected a musical formula so utterly unique and innovative as to restore hope in the city’s faded glory.

Destroy Cowboy have been assembling klaxons and magnetic sound machines that pulse and vibrate, harnessing the power of the elements and the spirit of the crowd to explosive effect.

Successful live tests have seen these brave men exhibiting alongside such leading names of music, science and industry as Cold War Kids, Tapes ‘n Tapes, Humanzi, 2ManyDjs, 1990s, The Stills and Tokyo Police Club.

The scientific community and the people of Birmingham now wait expectantly for news of Destroy Cowboy’s next move.

To Die By Your Side

... a Birmingham five piece with a talent for intense, melodic assaults ... a melting pot of ideas that meld pounding drums to heavy guitars while swathes of elctronics and synths swirl around ...

Liquor is Quicker

... Don't you just love unexpected surprises? Life just plods along in all its mundane familiarity, work work pub club sleep and all that. Then wham, something new, something exciting. For me, it was my first live experience of Destroy Cowboy ...

The Hearing Aid

... Destroy Cowboy are a seriously impressive band. One anthemic classic after another … I can really see Destroy Cowboy making it, not just nationally but across the pond too. They are, in my humble opinion, THAT good. Now go listen, see 'em live and if you're not 100% satisfied then you don't have ears. ...

UNWED SAILOR is helmed by Oklahoma-born songwriter Johnathon Ford. The basis for the instrumental project came into being while Ford was still writing with Seattle luminaries Roadside Monument. Pulling towards a bass guitar-oriented sound, the songs he had begun to craft did not fully feel right for Roadside Monument, thus the unbeknownst predestined forming of Unwed Sailor. Not aiming for Unwed Sailor to fall into the regular confines of a typical band, Ford's ever evolving cast and crew has been tirelessly composed over the years of good friends and company. Throughout the past decade, Unwed Sailor has shared the stage with the likes of Pedro the Lion, Mary Timony, Low, The Danielson Famile, Sufjan Stevens, Early Day Miners, Minus the Bear, The Advantage, The Starlight Mints, Battles, Mates of State, and Beach House(just to name a few…). The band has since been relocated and based out of cities across the United States, including Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C., Jackson MS, Little Rock, AR, and most recently Lawrence, KS. With numerous tours in the U.S. and Europe, the band has traveled almost as much as it has evolved.

Hello Destroy Cowboy we had a few complaints last week that we were using a MySpace program to send out our messages. So believe this when we say that you Destroy Cowboy are very important to us, just as important as the other 1000 people who are on my personal and the Exiles MySpace page. Destroy Cowboy you may think that you aren’t special to us but Destroy Cowboy Exiles (like Metallica) loves you.

So where Destroy Cowboy are you going to get your fix of awesome music this week because Exiles Birmingham’s Genre Straddling Rock Behemoth is just itching to give you Destroy Cowboy a dose of sticky Rock infection every Thursday leaving you Destroy Cowboy feeling dirty and molested. Speaking of molested Marshall made a flyer, thankfully so did Tim Ki Kydd who is partly responsible for our awesome website. Check it out at exilesbirmingham. co. uk

So Destroy Cowboy we have a wonderful plan for this Thursday night.

You definitely should go and see The Mirimar Disaster, I am Colossus, Slab and Mothertrucker at the Asylum ........and then you should pootle on down to Exiles and get all drunk with all the aforementioned bands as they will be coming out to play and celebrate being awesome altogether.

If you turn up with a ticket stub from the gig we will let you in for £2 where you can boogie on down to Rock music not normally heard in Shiny Brummingham.

Check out our website and see what awesomeness we’ve been playing.

Wednesday 23rd July
LIVE @ The Tin Angel, Spon ST. Cov

£5 ticket

TREMBLING BELLS Since serving apprenticeships with some uniquiely talented songwriters (Bonnie Prince Billy, Jandek, Baby Dee, Alasdair Roberts, Red Krayola, Richard Youngs, Josephine Foster, Current 93, 6 Organs of Admittance et al) Alex Neilson has formed a new song based group who seek to reanimate the psychic landscapes of Great Britain and relocate them to some vague, mythic land where basic human crisis' are encountered and conquered via a love for canonical rock, traditional folk and Earlie Musik.
The Trembling Bells will perform as a quartet with Alex Neilson, Ben Reynolds and Lavinia Blackwall and Simon Shaw.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Different Girls consists of Tenerbous Liar drummer, Brendan Casey, Bassist Alex Miles and Dave Ridley on guitar. Having formed the group recently they produce a concoction of loosely structured music that delves into Black Metal, Folk and Shoegaze to create a music that often seems dreamlike with a sound reminiscent of Sonic Youth. While obtaining the ever recognizable Nick Cave style vocals. They've recently made appearances with the Castanets, Jesse Sykes, and an opening slot at Coventry's Sonic Boom Festival.

With more acts to follow.
