Spencer Hickson is a music producer, writer and DJ. Who started to DJ in 1993 having been fortunate enough to be part of the early acid/house scene which was beginning at this time.
In 1995 he met the late Scott Latham (a True Pioneer) through his promotional work at local venues. Scott then introduced Spencer to producing, which led to their first track 'Phoenix ‘ Rise up' (Solid Silver Recordings), which was featured frequently on Radio 1’s Essential Mix, thanks to Sasha and other acclaimed dj’s.
Spencer had further releases through Blue Ice - Transparent (Koncept Records) & Omnia - Embryonic (Solid Silver Recordings), plus remixed Tarantella’s Myobadobe Mix (Wonderboy).
He then in 1999 wrote ‘831’ which was featured on Gatecrashers ‘Wet’ CD Release 2000. This track was also used in the Gatecrasher TV advertising campaign. Whilst also being dropped by Oakenfold on the Essential Mix World Tour from Shangai. 831 then went on to a full release in 2006 with Solaris Recordings, which featured both the unheard remixes from X-Cabs along with the new 2006 mixes.
Following the 10thanniversary of Scott Lathams death, Rise up was released on Northern Exposureas their first release. The label released 600 Vinyl copies for prosperity, following the launch John Digweed then picked the DDub and played the mix live on the Essential mix, 11 years on from the first play by Sasha in 95.
Spencer features 4 tracks on the soon to be released UK movie City Rats, Starring: Danny Dyer & Tamer Hassan. City Rats was featured both at East London Film Festival and Slamdance Festival in the US where it was warmly received. The tracks featured on City Rats, Out of the System, Tula and Falling will be released in June of this year on Reticent Recordings.
Desyfer & Fletch are currently working on new tracks together under the name 'Sundogs' and the our first production 'Primary Key' his out now on Brown Eyed Boyz.
