Green Bay Nightlife Review 4/20/2009
Detagoh (pronounced Day-Tah-Go) is a hip band with an admittedly strange name. The name Detagoh is a combination of cities & states where the members of the band are originally from: DETroit,
ChicAGO and oHio.
First formed in 1999 in Cleveland, OH by PJ Anderson (vocals) and John Pacini (lead guitar), Detagoh relocated to Chicago in 2004. They were quickly joined by some of the windy city's top musicians including, Mike Stephen (harmonica), Dave Goldman (violin), Mike Jeffers (drums), Adam Krause (bass) and Josh Moshier (keyboards & accordian). The seven member band quickly developed a signature sound that has been capturing audiences for almost 9 years.
Drawing from many different styles of music including pop, rock, blues, jazz, country and Latin, Detagoh's overall sound can best be described as pop rock with bluesy, sometimes country undertones. Their signature sound has resulted in a diverse group of loyal fans, enabing them to play to packed venues throughout the Midwest and beyond.
“Detagoh is a breath of fresh air in a very polluted music universe. This band carves its own niche into the musical landscape with its original sound and well-crafted songs. Each of their songs can be used as a counterpoint to the argument that there is not good, new music out there. The universe needs more Detagoh,” ~PropCulture.com.
“What amazes us [about Detagoh] is that two instruments as dissimilar as the violin and harmonica can coexist in the same band without getting in each other's way.” ~Time Out Chicago
A young group of “veterans,” Detagoh has played many high profile gigs including: Opening Act for Rusted Root at House of Blues Chicago in December 2007, Opening Act for Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers at Loyola University Chicago, headlining at House of Blues Chicago, Taste of Chicago, and many more.
In it's entirety, Detagoh is a 7-piece band that creates a full, explosive sound, but also have the ability to be a solo, 2-piece, 3-piece 4-piece or whatever piece band you would like. If an acoustic opening act is what you’re looking for, Detagoh can easily manage. If you need a full 7-piece band that will captivate an audience with their heart-felt lyrics and “get stuck in your head” hooks, then Detagoh is the band for you. Detagoh is a band with catchy, original music and the unique ability to take a cover song and make it their own. Detagoh’s style is one that is pleasing to the ears of many different ages groups.
