SUMMER UPDATE: I'VE BEEN GIVING STUFF AWAY FOR FREE... I SUCK AT SENDING STUFF OUT THROUGH THE MAIL. HOWEVER, TO THOSE THAT I OWE IT TO, I WILL GET IT TO YOU SOON.
Youtube.com Channel: I haven't put up anything new in awhile due to not having a digital camera other than my phone or an analog/digital converter. Both of these are on my wishlist and I plan to make the channel more extensive. In the meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out how to transfer videos from my phone to my computer to test the sound quality.
PLEASE CHECK OUT/BEFRIEND MY NEW YOUTUBE.COM CHANNEL for videos of Valkyrie, Unearthly Trance, Test-Site, Earthride, A.M. Salad, and more!!!: www.youtube.com/detournemont

Detournemont Productions evolved in 2000 when I started attending Goucher College. Due to being able to use space for free through a student organization I started, I decided to get involved with creating shows to support independent bands and performers. Over the years, I have booked everything from house shows to large club shows to large hall shows to shows in cafes. Emphasis has been put on creating shows with bands of different genres to incorporate the beauty of diversity within the independent music scene, establish appreciation for various musical styles, and expose new music to virgin ears. Recently, my attention has been focused on creating a multimedia impact at shows by incorporating film showings with performances.
I have always prefered to not do guarantees for bands/performers. I have always done my best to promote shows within my busy schedule.
Detournemont Media evolved in 2006 when I wanted to self-release a split tape with my friend, Jason Seechuk. Detournemont Media's purpose is to promote progressive and experimental music through personalized packaging while establishing connections and friendships abroad. The label plans to focus its bigger releases by promoting overseas artists that deserve more recognition in the United States. The label strives to work on a friendly relationship with the artists it supports. These releases are solely available at shows that I perform at or through the other artists involved. Detournemont Media IS NOT a business. I don't care about profit. I care about promoting the music and art that's being released. Therefore, all releases are free. You are welcome to let me know what you want and I'll let you know how much to send for postage. I love trading. Contact me @ nussman.scott@gmail.com
Our releases to date have been: dt-01: Nuss/Sere c30 (gone) (100 copies in standard cassette cases, no longer available) dt-02: Piasa "On Broken Bones" CDr (gone) (86 copies, in stenciled/spray painted USPS sleeves, spray painted CDrs, no longer available) dt-03: Kurse Go Back + Piasa collaboration CDr (gone) (100 copies, screened and spray painted CDrs, no label info included, no longer available) dt-04: Detournemont presents: Music for Treacherous Times Revised edition CDr (gone) (limited to 200, available in the uniquely packaged, experimental section in the back of RTX Records; all proceeds go to Breast Cancer research)
Unfortunately, a couple of production errors occurred that went unnoticed until the CDr went into distribution. I admit that this is completely my fault, and I've chalked it up as a learning experience. One track was repeated and somehow a track that wasn't even supposed to be on the compilation ended up on there underneath another name.
This compilation was the result of a desire to create a compilation of extreme music that featured the works of noise and ambient artists between the tracks of sludge, punk, metal, rock, and grind bands to give the compilation a unique feel. Most of the CD features bands and artists from the DC/VA area, but out of town favorites klike King Shit (Nashville), Ox (member of Sons of Otis, Canada), the Black Spoon Brigade (New Jersey), and Failure to Comply (Tennessee) were included on the compilation as well. The disc was mastered by Ben of Aeternus Animus. The CDr comes in a poly sleeve with inserts.
Here is the tracklisting:
1) King Shit - "The Crowning" 2) Cough - "288 Years of Sin" 3) Tenth Key - "Whiskey" 4) Swords - "Totally Werewolf" 5) the Black Spoon Brigade - "Delusions of Grandeur" 6) Bastet - "Fog the Emperor Out" 7) Admiral Browning with Steven F. Kerchner - "Bukwas" 8) Ox - "The Horror" 9) Acheronian - "Playing God" 10) Pat Paul - "Of Hopes and Fears" 11) Durga Temple - "J ay's Knife" 12) Nuss - "Safe Haven" 13) Vog - "Like the Sky Above" (old version) 14) Sere - "Autoerotic Response" 15) The Tenth Key - "After the Feast" 16) Hoarse Pill - "Distinction" 17) The Seventh Gate - "Black Tongued Truths" 18) Fasapa - "Hip Shooter" 19) Ol' Scratch - "Cycles" 20) Damian Languell - "Camptown House" 21) Failure to Comply - "Disavowel" dt-06: Realicide / Piasa c30 (100 copies in standard cassette cases) dt-05: Bobby Vomit / ++ (aka shin nihon shinto) tape (100 copies in standard cassette cases with color inserts; available on side wall in RTX Records)
The story of the Jandek record that has been all over the place, pissed on, and manipulated finds its documentation in Nate's manipulation of the record as Bobby Vomit. His side starts off with him pissing on the record and then it being manipulated with turntablism guru, Nate, dominating the wax for a harsh and absurd noise track entitled "Pissing on Jandek." Shin Nihon Shinto (previously known as "++") is a mysterious, Japanese noisician, who provides two tracks of raw Japanese noise named in letter and number sequences. One track sounds like the soundtrack for an industrial armageddon while the other track provides an aura of psychedelic ambience that transcends space and time. This release is highly recommended for fans of turntablism and Japanese noise. dt-6: Nuss/Stomach Hand split CDr - "Black on High" - Stomach Hand lays down several heavy, rhythmic noise tracks using everything from field recordings to distorted synths; Nuss tracks are a mix of everything from minimalist synth tracks to guitar/bass/drum machine tracks; working on the graphics currently; out now dt-07: Shinryu-ken "s/t" Africa only CDr (gone) (80 copies distributed for free in the country of Senegal, not available anywhere but Senegal) dt-08: The Xanax Diaries: The Split Channel Debauchery of Nuss and Acheronian c30 (few copies left) (available on the side wall in RTX Records)
Two of Piasa's most notorious noise scoundrels got their grubby hands on a decent amount of Xanax and alcohol and threw down 2 split channel harsh drone tracks.... "The Pursuit of Happiness" by Nuss and "Miss Everything / Social Rape" by Acheronian. The cassette is presented in cases w/ cardstock insert. Xanax is not included. Sorry... hit up your local spot. dt-09: Pastures / Twilight Memories of the Three Suns c24 (few copies left..) - 2 sides of disgustingly beautiful noise from experimental groups from the DC/Baltimore area... dt-10: Legless CDr - "Conqueror Worm" (few copies left) (limited to 50 copies in slim jewel cases
Danny Propert (formerly of the New Flesh) provides an epic, harsh noise track of guitar noise, feedback manipulation, junk sounds, and samples. This track is the soundtrack to the apocalypse. The end is near. dt-11: Vedmak "Amaka Hehabucmu" / "Attack to Hate" CDr (US release; limited to 100 CDrs with thermal printing in standard CD cases w/ pro tray cards and xeroxed b/w inserts)
Vedmak are a fierce & raw black/death metal from the Russian Federation. This CDr is the US release of their 2004 EP "Attack to Hate" along with their 2002 demo that provides 10 tracks of melodic, vehement mayhem. dt-12: Realicide / Half Gorilla 7" - FRIENDS (I'm giving this away for free as I am with everything else on the label..... however, this is not through the mail... it's specific to the area where I'm currently living. If you can setup a show for me or related projects, I'd be happy to make this 7" available for all showgoers... just hit me up @ nussman.scott@gmail.com dt-13: "On the Renaissance of Student Life" pamphlet dt-15 (gone): Cycles CDr - (2 psych songs recorded in the spring of '07 by members of Dark Sea Dream, Pastures, and Acheronian; limited to 50 in standard CD cases with pro tray card and 3 inserts) dt-17: Children Egoism / Pastures split c30 (limited to 50)
Children Egoism lays down some sick experimental tracks from his 2nd demo that was only released in Belarus. Pastures lays down, "Broken Lantern," an epic, hypnotic track recorded when the group was still a 3-piece. dt-18 / gone: Corpus Callosum / Legless CDr split "s/t" (limited to 50 in slim jewel cases with covers on front and back plus an insert; 25 available in the US, 25 available in the UK
Corpus Callosum is psych drone out to numb your skull; Doug Stailey's cello + effects meets Scott's ARP analog synth and Roland 808ex. In this first release, we focus on the Alpha frequency range, which has been boosted by 12db on each track, which are appropriately named, "Alpha 1," "Alpha 2," and "Alpha 3." "Alpha 3" is also going to appear on the 2008 Sonic Circuits compilation (yet to be released). Legless aka Danny P. lays down an epic track of squealing, harsh, fucked up noise... truly one of his must piercing and cold works to date. dt-20: Nuss CDr - "Baptized in Hydrogen Peroxide" (US release) - 4 epic drone/hate tracks professionally recorded by Ben Daniel dt-24: private release of 40 tapes; power electronics with a horse on vocals (one of the most popular releases to date... might very well be release again at some point) dt-25: Lobo "Germometer" pro CDr w/ tray card - 8 tracks in 19 mins. of d-beat/sludgy, pissed off DC hardcore; all songs about human experimentation; recorded, mixed, and mastered by the mighty Ben Daniels; track titles: "Mengele Mangle," "The Cornelius Roads," "Tuskegee Guinea Pigs," "Project Paperclip," "Program Fucked," "Small Print," "Detached Immunity," and "A Place to Bury"; socially-conscious hardcore done for the fun of making music; Lobo is continuing as a band based out of Richmond, VA; we will be recording when it makes sense for us and our new drummer, Elliott, to write new material; we have a split tape that will be out eventually

yeah bro i believe that is a pectus excavatum. i can't even imagine how painful that shit must be. about the most pain i've personally experienced was from a huge kidney stone that i chose to ignore for three weeks "thought it was some strange vd" until it shot down my shaft one night with torrents of blood, pus and piss and lodged in the head. that must be nothing in comparison to what you went through. the body is a horribly flawed machine. a lot of my own work centers itself on body horror. can't wait for the split either! i've finally got my equipment replaced and/or working again. going to be an amazing experience.
For examples of racist/xenophobic noise musicians look up Deathkey, Brethren, and Genocide Lolita. They're just the most famous examples of people who make these beliefs INHERENT in their music. Other people such as Mikko of Freak Animal Records routinely make misogynist and racist statements. Just look at the Power Electronics board on chondriticsound.com/forum. Things like this are accepted or even encouraged in this scene and I won't "unite" with racists.
Hey Nuss, yer welcome re: load in/out, I'm actually sticking to the long-delayed phys-ed efforts after lugging those amps. Glad to finally experience CC, more soon?
