The first punk band in Lebanon was Benzene back in 2005, with Aida, Nader, and Roland. They fucked shit up playing in a dirty underground pub on Hamra with bands like Nightchains and Damaar. When the war broke out between Lebanon and Israel in the summer of 2006 , Roland moved to Australia before the band got the chance to record........
Aida and Tex got married in 2007, and together wanted to start a hamra street punk band. Detox was made when Roland came back to Beirut in december 08, with Aida on vocals, Tex (from NIGHTCHAINS and THE GAMBLERS) on guitars, Karam (from THRASH STORM) on bass, and Roland on drums.
Roland went back to Australia recently and Karam took over on drums, and Nasser, Aida's bro, was added to the line up on bass!
A few days after the first Detox gig, Nasser and Tex were arrested and spent time in 2 jails and a prison, just another 2 victims of the system and have come out even MORE pissed off...
Detox music came from all the experiences they've had on Hamra street to date, all the booze and drugs in the alleys, the dirty cops, the militias, and the wars... everything that is far from the real meaning of detox.
