About me: DetroitBumps.Com is a response to what has happened to urban radio in the past 15 years. Once at the forefront of innovation and progress, black radio has become just a darker-hued version of mainstream pop stations controlled by conglomerates, payola and bottom-lines. Rob, H.E.III & mister X came up at a time when Detroit Radio (led by the legendary ELECTRIFYIN' MOJO) was bringing the hot sh*t: you were just as likely to hear Kraftwerk, Tom Tom Club and David Bowie on Black radio as Prince, Rick James and Run Dmc. Then as hip-hop/funky soul mutated into the "hottest rap and r&B" that eventually replaced pop, the variety & quality we grew up on was slowly taken from us, replaced by the same 8 mandatory songs played every hour on the hour.
We sure do like GOOD hip-hop & R&B - check out the show and see if u agree...
We'd love to provide a direct link to DetroitBumps.Com but myspace filtering perceives us a "threat"...and if by that they mean a "threat" to all the bullsh*t mainstream artists trying to dominate myspace and keep people away from the good stuff then we consider it a compliment.
