About me:
The Detroit Craft Mafia strengthens, unites, and promotes Metro Detroit's DIY community. It does so by encouraging local crafters to form their own companies; by helping those companies share the information and resources they need in order to thrive; and by introducing Detroit's community of crafty entrepreneurs to the rest of the country via the nationwide network of Craft Mafias.
The first Craft Mafia was founded in Austin, Texas in 2003. It began as an informal group of nine women, each of whom had their own crafty, independent business. They soon found that uniting as a Craft Mafia allowed them to pool their ideas and resources; network with other crafty entrepreneurs; promote Austin's crafting community; and take their individual businesses to new heights.
The Detroit Craft Mafia was formed in 2005, when several of Metro Detroit's indie entrepreneurs began working together to encourage and promote the area's rapidly growing craft scene.
