  • Bio

A NEW PROJECT FROM WENDELL HARRISON For over forty years, Wendell Harrison has developed a musical style in the BeBop and Post Bop jazz tradition and has released 30 CD releases, DVDs, and authored several method books that are in the international market place. He has performed at prominent venues, festivals and universities all over the world. Now in the fifth decade of his career, Wendell presents a new project showcasing another side of his artistry--as frontman/vocalist of the Detroit Swing Ensemble featuring the percussive pulse of rhythm guitarist Niko Pittman and the virtuostic lead guitar of Vaughn Klugh. With the dual guitars providing a dancefloor foundation of classic swing, Wendell's clarinet virtuosity and charismatic vocal presence exemplify the history and artistry of vocalists Eddie Jefferson, Nat King Cole, James Moody and others in a repertoire ranging from classic swing jazz of the 1920's and '30's, all the way through original compositions by Wendell himself. Detroit continues to produce the best talent in the world, and the proof is found in the great jazz master Wendell Harrison. His Detroit Swing Ensemble is available for live performances of all kinds. For Booking: (734)934-6784 or gypsystringsofdetroit@yahoo.com. .. .. ..
