Detroit Techno Militia was established as a grass roots DJ/Producer collective on a mission to promote Detroit Electronic Music around the world. All members are deeply inspired by Detroit's' techno history and work closely with several of Detroit’s most influential DJ’s and producers. We feel our mission is a lot like restoring an old building. While most people have the out with the old, in with the new attitude, we want to maintain the historic value that is already present in Detroit. We are not tearing down the old building, but using the existing structure as a basis of our endeavors. Musically, Detroit has a lot to offer, and we want to make sure the future generations know about it. We are civilians trained as soldiers but not part of the mainstream musical army.
The message runs deep, and it IS getting through. Much respect to all the Detroit artists who've made this possible. If you don't do something for the music we love, the music dies.
If you think that the people in Detroit don't care about techno, you are sadly mistaken. Detroit is filled with people who care about it's music and about it's history. Detroit Techno Militia was formed to give those people a voice. We've worked hard to network with people, both locally and internationally who feel the same way we do. We've been inspired by the people who've put techno on the map.
Our goal is to reinforce the already strong movement taking place in our city. Detroit is rebuilding itself, and we want to be here to help. We offer more than just music in the grand scheme. We offer both technical and creative support to members of our community. We support our partner events. We build alliance and friendships. We fully support healthy competition which will help reduce stagnation in our scene. We are always willing to educate anyone who wants it, and more importantly - those who NEED it. We are here to raise the bar for the next generation. There's nothing worse than a lazy DJ or a half ass producer. Get off your ass and bring your A-Game or don't do it at all. Period.
We need to show the world that we are serious about what we do. Detroit is at the forefront when it comes to electronic music. You need to EARN the right to say you're from Detroit by busting your ass and paying your dues like the guys did before us.
