| General | THE MOTOR CITY, the most beautiful/ugly toughest/friendliest area in the world. Our little hobby has reinforced the fact that this place has the most warm and talented artists, musicians, interesting characters in the world. N.Y, London, Chicago and L.A. ain't got shit on us and they're scared of us to boot. The year book is our tribute to this fascinating community. The best part is, instead of sittin' home watchin' da tube, its given us an excuse to dance to great bands, view beautiful art (or disturbing), take in great festivals (if you missed the Peoples Art Festival @ the R.I.C. don't make that mistake next year) and meet some of the greatest people this planet has to offer!

Greatest book "Tale of Two Cities" (Dickens rules), Clockwork Orange, just finished "Jane Eyre" w/ illus. by Dame Darcy (wow), Run with the Hunted (Bukowski Anthology), non-fiction, lately too much about music history (don,t miss "Before Motown" a most excellent history of Detroit's kick-ass jazz contributions!), "I Celebrate Myself" Ginsberg bio, Kinky Friedman, Guilty pleasure, those wacky Florida mysteries and Marvel Zombie comics. | | Heroes | My incredible Daughters, Amazing Alice (co-founder yrbk.), her great kids (Andy & Emma), and my Parents who were too good to me. Now to get REALLY Pollyanna on ya'll all the people who cross our paths everyday that are kind, friendly and polite who prove there's way more good and decent people in this world than bad. We forget because we let the ASSHOLES make such an impression on us when we encounter them. The one rude jerk can overshadow nine kind acts in our day cause we forget to look for good. |

Who I'd like to meet:
We'd like to meet more people who have touched or been touched by our great city to sign our Detroit Yearbook ("Grit, Noise and Revolution"). In the past months our lives have been so enriched by the incredibly wonderful, fun folks we've encountered in the Motor City so why stop now. This includes (but not exclusive to) folks mentioned in the book. A random list of groups includes MC5 (come home Wayne!), Up!, Pleasure Seekers, Psychedelic Stooges (remember when?), SRC, Frost, Funk Bros, Brownsville Station (R.I.P. Cub), Minah Birds (look 'em up kids you won't believe it, Motown Rec. had 'em), Detroit Wheels, Grand Funk, Destroy All Monsters, Twisted Brown Truckers, Slum Village, Pinkeye and more. Some of the individuals we hope to cross paths with are Johnny Powers, Uncle Russ, Genie Plamondon, Gretchen Carhartt Valade (Mac Ave Rec), Smokey, Martha, Mrs."Sonic" Smith, The Ghoul, Regina Carter, Jack White, the Bach of Rock, the cast goes on. BUT most importantly YOU! (yeah, YOU)
