I love vintage just about everything: guitars, amps and of course, clothing from the 40's through the 70's. I enjoy great food, but healthy food, ie, not fast food burgers, you know what i mean!! real food and a variety of it. i'm looking to buy an island one day. but for now, i'll just have to dream about it......
Music
I love so many different kinds of music, from traditional blues ala howlin' wolf, john lee hooker, muddy waters to jazz standards like billie holiday, ella fitzgerald and nancey wilson. love old motown, r&b, stevie wonder, aretha franklin who is still my favorite female singer of all time. mary j. blige is the modern day aretha franklin in my opinion and i love some of her stuff. love and miss the beatles. respect the rolling stones for hangin' around all these years. love rock bands like nirvana, foo fighters and U2. love the new gorillaz cd, especially "feel good, inc.". miss some great females in the music, rock world. where are they? love classical music as well. i'm pretty much open to all kinds of music, as long as it's good, meaning, as long as it touches my soul in some way, and strikes a chord in me.
Movies
sick of the same old tired no plot movies these days. have yet to see "walk the line". joaquin phoenix is one of my favorite actors and in my opinion one of a handful of good male actors today along with edward norton, of course, robert de niro, kevin spacey, russell crowe and chris cooper. i'm sure there are others but their names escape me at the moment. i've not seen enough current films to comment. must see "memoirs of a geisha", loved the book. "wizard of oZ" is still one of my all time favorites as well as "fantasia". I loved "american beauty", "gladiator", "fahrenheit 911", "the full monty". i love to laugh and would love to see some more funny films.
Books
my antonia, love in the time of cholera, oranges are not the only fruit
About me: I'm very into music, have been since I was a child. Love to learn about it and to grow more within it. Love fashion, would love to design one day. I love great films and books you can't put down. I love children and all my family and good friends!! Love swimming, hot white sandy beaches, art, theatre and shopping.
I'm very fortunate to have sung with some of the greats:
Eric Clapton-I toured and recorded with Eric for about 5 years and cowrote his hit "Lay Down Sally", as well as a popular song off the same record [slowhand] called, "the core".
I used to be in a band called "Shakespear's Sister" back in the '90's. I was vocally featured on our biggest hit, which I also cowrote, called, "Stay". it was number one in the uk for 8 consecutive weeks. I adopted the name, Marcella Detroit during my Shakespear's Sister days.
After I left Shakespear's Sister, I went on the do a few solo cd's under the name Marcella Detroit. They are, "Jewel", "feeler", "Dancing Madly Sideways". I've recently been working with a uk based band called "LoverushUK" who have done a cd called, "Plethora". my single from that cd is called, "mystery to me" and was released, digitally only, on April 30th. You can get details about that on my other "spaces":

Who I'd like to meet: I'd like to meet other singer/songwriters who like to collaborate, professionally. I'm a professional musician/singer/songwriter signed to a viable music publishing company based in the uk, although I live near los angeles, california. I would also love to hook up with great engineers and sound designer/producer types. I'm always doing demoes, have my own pro studio setup and have written hits for artists all over the world as well as myself, and would love to meet other like minded, professional people who are real, and doing it for the right reasons.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
