"The Red River" is a conceptual art piece. It is not a typical pop or rock album in the slightest. Not one instrument was used in creating the album - it's all vocals and one pen tapping against a table for a beat. Vocals were sampled, layered, altered into bass lines, bass drums, strings, keyboards, choirs, demons and angels. "The Red River" is not an album you will put on at a dinner party. Enjoy it like a book or a film. Also, this is an album to be enjoyed IN HEADPHONES. A lot of the textures on the songs are very subtle and cannot be picked up in a big stereo system. Crank up the headphones, turn off all the lights and hop onto your tattered raft and flow down The Red River.
Story: A young man commits suicide (self-inflicted gunshot) and travels through the afterlife, confronting his demons on a journey of forgiveness. He meets his dead father, relives an abusive childhood and confronts former lovers and is told, ultimately, that he either lets it go and continues on to "Oblivion" or holds on to the pain and bitterness and continues to repeat his trip down The Red River. What choice does he make? Listen and find out...
