DevineWrite has a sound that fits perfectly with their name. The mixture of alternative rock, reggae, hip-hop and smooth harmonies proves this bands rightful divinity. Devine Write has a long history of working together, which gives their music a tight fit. Aaron Wolfenbarger (vocals, bass, guitar) and Sean Oyler (vocals, bass, guitar) have been collaborating for over six years; adding their third member, Curtis Stahl (drums and percussion), in 2005. The trio’s project first began in high school as Some Band From Sandy. By gaining experience and the respect of fellow peers and as well as other artists SBFS managed to transform into local house name, reigning over Mo’s Bar and Grill, one of their current stomping ground.
Being a part S.E.M allowed Devine Write the opportunity to play for big names such as Bone Thugs and Harmony, Styles of Beyond, Apathy, DJ Green Lantern, the Flobots, with more to come. They have also been able to be a part of the Vans Warped Tour, with the Skull Kandy Mix Tent and the X96 “4play @ 4” band battle.
Devine Write released their first EP in April 2008. Fittingly titled Some Band From Sandy, the six-track EP featured a combination of good times and everyday struggles. To top that off it was filled with funk-tastic bass lines, jamming riffs, a steady beat and easy going vocals.
The future is looking bright for Devine Write. They are currently working on their full-length album coming out this fall, locally produced by Jebu- who has worked with artists such as Shaky Trade and Spearit. They are looking to create music that deals with real life experiences, real life desires, something that the fans can relate to and enjoy. Even at a young age Devine Write has managed to spark attention in Salt Lake City from all over the nation. On top of that they have been a big part of the foundation that is creating a whole new scene of music in Utah.
