I play guitar and sing jazz, blues, classic rock, and country. I am currently playing with many different acts in the Phoenix area including Boomer (www.playboomer.com) and New Brew.
Born Steve Thompson I started in the San Francisco bay area in 1963 playing at parties, Stanford Fraternities and eventually worked the club circuit, Reno, Tahoe, and back to the San Francisco to play on the same stage with many big names as an opening act.
Long story short, I quit playing for 24 years and came back out a little over 3 years ago and haven't stopped. I play under the name of Devo Carrillo, Devo has been my nickname for years and Carrillo is my mother's maiden name. She is gone now I am am honoring her and her Father Richard Carrillo who started me off in music teaching me Piano and Marimba.
Music is in the family, my son Bobby Thompson is one of the guitarists and songwriters for Job for a Cowboy a very successful death metal band out of Glendale AZ and my nephew Kris Hill plays flamenco percussion in Calo Flamenco, the Chris Burton Flamenco Band and lead guitar for Drunken Immortals out of Scottsdale AZ
I am busy contributing as a co host at local jam sessions and working the club scene, casinos and corporate gigs in Arizona.
I love to play all day and all night and have met some great people.
Thanks for stopping by.

Looks like you're playing out a lot, as usual. When you have a moment, stop by and sign my brand new groovy world map guest book. Oh yeah, check out my latest song, "Man-Up", as well. Be Excellent, my friend.
Thank you very much for letting me join your circle of friends. I hope to see you out on the road real soon. Keep the blues alive and keep on keeping the faith! Peace and Love! Shirley King, Daughter of The Blues
