The Devolvers were formed in the bay area over two years ago and currently practice in a warehouse in the Ghost-town section of west Oakland. They are a three piece consisting of Marc on lead vocals and guitar, Dustin "D-tron" on electric bass, and G. Rat on drums. Their biggest influences are The Misfits, Johnny Cash, The Cramps, and the Clash. Local influences include The Phenemonauts, 1/4 Mile Combo, The Reckless Rebels, The Chop Tops, The Mutilators, The Lucky Stiffs, Los Dryheavers, Lars Fredriksen and all those other bad apples.
The Devolvers style is a potent mixture of rockabilly and late 70s early 80s Punk Rock. Steady freight train drum rhythms supported by solid driving bass lines lay the foundation while the guitar chimes in with sometimes jangley, sometimes overdriven and distorted chords. The vocal stylings are a mix between Johnny Cash, Elvis and Danzig.
