The Music
Leading Devotion's campaign to explore the recent musical expansions of Spiritual Dance Music through a revival of its rhythmic past is Ruben Mancias, a 15 year veteran and legendary presence cultivated from the San Francisco dance music realm. DJ, musician, producer, activist and friend, Ruben has worked tirelessly to keep the legacy of the music alive -- from the ecstatic energy of his sets to the fierce determination of his record label, Devotion Records, to promote the very latest music that keeps everyone's hands in the air. Along with his partner, Eric B., and a backing choir of guest luminaries that include: Louie Vega, Joe Claussell, Jellybean Benitez, Ruben Toro, Danny Krivit, Kerri Chandler, Teddy Douglas, Kenny Bobien, Monique Bingham, Luis Radio, Frankie Feliciano and countless others, Ruben consistently turns the floor out for hundreds of devoted fans. He's the man in the booth who leads his party into the Right Hand, through an organic mix of Latin, African and Electro beats overlaid with rapturous vocals and sensuous fades. Devotion is one of only a handful of events in the United States committed to celebrating the spirit of Dance and respecting the floor by producing and promoting music that stays true to the Underground Nation -- which doesn't mean it's not a sweatin' sexy party. Like legendary movements such as "Paradise Garage", "Music Box" & "Body & Soul", Devotion the club and Devotion the label raise consciousness by tearing off the roof.
