DEWEY DECIMAL DRINKS is a monthly happy hour for librarians in St. Louis, Missouri.

Unless otherwise noted, Dewey Decimal Drinks is on the third Wednesday of every month at 6pm. We rotate venues, so watch this space for location info each month!

Thanks Claire!

Hi! Thanks Claire for the great vote of confidence and planning some great happy hours over the last two years! In case you haven’t heard, Claire moved to Detroit last week and turned Dewey Decimal Drinks over to me. I am thrilled to be taking this on and for those of you who don’t know me, I love to plan especially when drinks are involved.

Following in Claire’s footsteps will be a challenge but I am confident that we will all have a good time, that we will keep drinking, and we will continue to demolish the stereotypes about librarians and our profession. It’s my mission in life.

There is one change to Dewey Decimal Drinks. I have moved it from the second Thursday to the third Wednesday of the month. I hope that will not be too much of an issue.

You will be receiving the first event notification soon which will be for November 18th at the Tin Can on Locust. I hope you will come out for a great night of drinking, eating, and chatting and I look forward to meeting everyone! <p.

We welcome anyone who has ever worked in any library anywhere in any capacity at any time! This includes public libraries, academic libraries, school libraries, law libraries, specialty libraries, archives, zine libraries, you name it. Avid readers and writers are welcome, too. This is not about having an MLS--it's about loving books.

Also, we'd like to meet Levar Burton.

The best thing you can do for us is show up, have fun, and try to talk to some people you haven't met before. And tell your friends, coworkers, and coconspirators about us!

If you own or know of a bar or bowling alley that might like to host a future Dewey Decimal Drinks night, let us know! (Preference is given to establishments located in the city, but we're open minded.) If you would be interested in DJing at a future Dewey Drinks night, let us know. If you would like to pose with reading material for a flyer for Dewey Drinks, we'd love to take your picture. If you have book related art or would like to send us a photo of yourself with a book that we can use to promote Dewey Drinks, send it on over. (Just keep it PG-13 or G rated. We love librarians but we don't like you like that.)
