"The highlight (Exodus Cyber Tribal Festival) was the main stage going off to Deya Dova. ... utterly mesmerizing as she looped her ethereal vocals and harmonised layer after lush layer.... accompanied by totally infectious dance beats she seemed to be possessed by something other worldly. Influences came from indigenous sounds from across the world, tapping into something primal within us all....smiling as she belted out another bit of vocal magic..the audience swaying to its beauty when not dancing to its energy. The weekend could have ended there and I would have been satisfied." Tsunami Mag Feb 09
“A unique positive energy…people were literally mesmerized by Deya’s performance. Amazing!” Pat Maloney, MusicOz Awards
"These songs carry the spirit and sensuality of music that is free and fresh.” Limelight Magazine, Jaslyn Hall
“Songs that seem to come straight from the Australian desert,
which send shivers down your spine and warm your heart and soul.” Le Berry Republicain France. Festival Printemps De Bourges
“In a world that tends to pigeon-hole musical artists, Deya’s music proves something of an anomaly. The natural ease and conviction with which she uninhibitedly expresses herself is inspiration to all those who feel that their individuality can only come to nothing in today’s seemingly technocratic world.” The Jakarta Post Indonesia. Jakart Festival
“Deya is remarkable because she is totally unique. She seems to draw on a wellspring of musical and cultural ideas which appear to have parallels in a variety of indigenous traditions yet are also part of her very own colorful and rich mythology. Her ability to multi-loop her own voice to create a myriad of inspiring sounds is something truly wonderful.” Sebastian Flynn – Queensland Multi Cultural Festival
“Exquisitely produced, Deya Dova’s album has a spotlessly clean yet ethereal quality reminiscent of The Knife or Bjork and yet completely, refreshingly, unique." IN THE MIX
"'Burst' is hot, full of incredibly catchy, edgy, captivating, clever (indie) pop music..and a distinctly world vibe." AUSPOP
""Deya Dova's BURST Album is too impressive not to be mentioned. The singer producer sounds like the love child of an orgy between Fever Ray, Shpongle and Trentemoller." 3D MAGAZINE
It's fantastic...just may be one of the weirdest - and best - Aussie releases of the year!" SYDNEY STAR OBSERVER
Hailing from the expansive landscape of the Nullarbor desert in South Australia, DEYA DOVA is one of the only self produced female Electronica artists in Australia!
Her first productions started with location sampling and vocal recordings out in the desert, in caves and on cliffs. These recordings were used as bed tracks in the studio and feature on DEYA’s critically acclaimed first album, SO BRAVELY HUMAN, along with a host of “desert rock” guitar and vocal songs. This album won her NCIA Best Album and Best Female Vocalist awards and took her to Europe where she played high profile festivals including Printemps De Bourge.
In 2006, in just 2 weeks DEYA wrote & recorded her second album THE JASMANI GARDEN; an ambient, experimental vocal looping project, singing only for the love of it, recording spontaneous tracks with no lyrics, no structure and no boxes. THE JASMANI GARDEN gained her an avid following, serious festival performances in Australia and Japan and a Music Oz award nomination for Best World artist.
Throughout 2008 DEYA was in the studio developing her original sound by taking her vocal looping into the domain of dance, electronica, break beat and indie pop. Her new music brings together a love of earthy electronica, sampling, glitch, cinematic soundscapes, Si Fi effects and tribal world beats, along with her evocative vocals.
2009, DEYA bursts back on to the music scene with her sensational debut single KYIO, a contagious progressive house remix that is currently impacting at radio and on dance floors across the country.
DEYA DOVA’S brand new album BURST is out now! Released on her own label, Reflekta Records and distributed by MGM.
