   About DFAS
It's been a long road for the DFAS. Now, the road for some other bands, such as the Rolling Stones or the Who, might have been longer, but six years worth of road can be pretty long. The story begins in 1999, when Ed and Al Funk decided to join forces and form one of Towson, Maryland's most formidable acoustic duos. 'Formidable' in the sense that they were, by far, full of tenacity and attitude, if not sheer musical talent. Ed's good looks and Al's charming personality attracted some of the area's finest musicians to perform along side of them, meaning that, at any given moment on any given day, the DFAS were truly 'All-Stars.'

Al, Ed and their compatriots (especially Pete Funk!) paid their dues by playing in some of the foulest, stink-filled dives in the Baltimore area. (They also played Needful Things in Canton, which was neither foul nor stinky - editor). But eventually ennui set in, brought on by the downfall of Napster, the sorry state of the Electoral College, and David Arquette winning the World Heavyweight Championship. Ed and Al sat their guitars in the corner, bowed their heads, and went quietly into seclusion.

But such a force as the DFAS couldn't be swept under a rug like a pile of dirt! In early 2002, the All-Stars re-emerged with old friend Earl on guitar and bass player extraordinaire Rico on, well, bass guitar. With the addition of our cousin Rudy Funk on drums, the re-formed DFAll-Stars has become virtually unstoppable.
