I was born and bred in Liverpool and grew up during Beatlemania and the heady years when Liverpool FC were winning everything in sight (sigh of nostalgia...) After a series of dubious musical jobs and a change of location with the day job I arrived in Yardarm, a Wrexham-based folk group, in 1980. Yardarm still has 6-monthly reunions although sadly founder member John Evans is no longer with us. The 1980s also brought regular jazz / swing outings playing guitar or bass with the Bill Basey Big Band. Full House was formed in the late 80s and The Family Mahone in 1998. Have a look at www.thefamilymahone.co.uk and www.fullhousefolk.co.uk. Full House made 2 cassette albums in 1991 and 1993 and then a CD, Spaciously Deceptive, in 1995, which is still available via the web site, together with our 2006 album Brand New Start. The Mahones meanwhile released 3 albums between 1999 and 2006; see the website for more details. Somewhere in between all that I made a solo album in 1995 to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, and sample tracks are included here.
Just received the photos you sent ... wonderful stuff!
I have made a little slideshow of them on our page (took the colour off to add to the aged effect). They are well worth cropping for other shots .. really good quality .. thanks very much for all of them.
See you at the Chester folk club soon ...... we'll tell you all about Canada!!
Hi Dave, just been listening to you ..lovely, perfect for the beautiful weather, send my love to Full House won't you..looks like you have got a busy year ahead,
Hi Dave Good to hear from you. We're only managing to do the Friday evening at the Chester Festival (family stuff happening on that weekend). Is it folly to think we might share the stage again one day .... seem to remember joining you lot at The Unicorn for a Down From The Mountain song. Don't think you've heard our song about the Dojo ... Toby's menage a trois between him, his wife and his Banjo/Dojo ... great little song. We're putting a live version of it on our collaborative CD with Stan Carew (Canadian Radio Presenter and fab songwriter/performer) which comes out this summer (supporting the Canadian mini-tour). You might also be interested to know that on the new B&W (G&T to friends) CD (again, out in time to sell on the tour) we're including a live version of Jackie D.
Hey up Dave!
Thanks for the add. Duelling dojos hey? Sounds like a good laugh. Thumb got too poorly for scruggs style...so I'm well into clawhammer at the mo!
See you at MFAB if not before.
