About me:
DFWOPENMICS was born in early 2006 when Open Mic artists, poets/musicians and hosts around the Dallas Fort Worth Texas Metroplex, all of which had been involved in numerous variety style format open mics, decided to join forces to work together to produce and promote, helping make DFW a really great town for pure open poetry and variety (Poetry Spoken Word, Music, and pretty mich whatever you have for us!)open mics like it once was, hell...even better!! Where great local poets, singer songwriters, and other independent artists of all types, dispositions, and levels of experiance, can find venues that are open, inclusive, supportive and entertaining. Venues to do the overwhelmingly important job of creating and nurturing all types of poetry, music and art, making more beautiful and more real the human experiance. A PLACE in our cookie cutter, corpratized, conformist, lowest common denominator culture, for real art, real people, real voices, to be heard! It's evern MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER these days.. to have a real voice or art happening that is not fitered through the Corpocracy!! Some of our artsists have been doing what they love to do, hosting, organizing, reading at, playing, singing, featuring at, and supporting open format poetry/spoken word/music/variety open mics, for several years..some more than a decade. They all come together with one single common love and purpose, the purely open open mic.
The mission of DFWOPENMICS,is to create a vibrant, growing energetic and artistically enriching poetry, music, and variety pure open mic scene in DFW. That is brilliant, original artistic, supportive and a lot of fun!! Through networking, cooperative cross-promotion of existing open mics, and production of awesome new open mic venue locations throughout the DFW metroplex.
We are poets, writers, spoken word artists, muscians, singer songwriters, independent creators and thinkers, showmen and women... of all tastes, styles, ideas, philosophies, ages, genders, beliefs, experiences, and persuasions...our commonality being the OPEN MIC..... it's what we do! It's what we love!!

Local people on Myspace check over here to see what's happening with the local poety/ music/variety open mics...and we meet LOTS AND LOTS of people at our local events who want to come hear the local poets, musicians and artists, and hopefully share their work as well.
