TANUA NUT MALAS - THE IVORY ALTERNATIVE
Help save the wild life... Help save the rain forest!..
Looking just like ivory, these beautiful white beads are made from tropical tagua nut, used by the Mayas and Incans for emotional and spiritual health. The beads in both the full and hand malas are approximately 9 mm, with a larger head bead topped with a silky red tassle. In addition, the full mala has smaller beads that work as markers for 7 and 21 repetitions. The hand mala has 21 beads and stretches slightly to slip easily on and off your wrist.
Tagua Nut (Philetelas Microcarpas), also called the Vegetable Ivory Nut, is the ivory alternative. The ivory nut is close grain and very heard. The cellular structure and grain is similar to that of elephant ivory, but is more dense and resilient. It resembles the finest ivory in texture and color. Malas are used to count mantras, prayers, and prostrations. They consist of 108 beads. The largest beads called the GURU bead and it symbolizes the Spiritual Source or the Teacher. There are 108 beads (each size 7mm), with 4 counter beads (size 5mm) at position 7, and 21, at opposite sides of the GURU bead. This makes it easy to locate position 7 and 21 for certain prayers and mantras which are required to be practiced 7 and 21 times. These 3 smaller beads should not be counted. The GURU bead is 9mm. The Mala is hand strung with polyester whipping twine. Tassel is 100% cotton. All beads of the mala are tagua nuts.
Tagua and Animal Ivory
Because of its close resemblance to animal ivory the nut of the tagua palm has had a long history as a useful product .Before the invention of plastics tagua was used in the making of buttons and other common items such as jewelry, dice, chess pieces and cane handles. In fact, some expensive "ivory" pieces from the Victorian era were actually made from tagua nuts.
Tagua products are experiencing a comeback in an effort to protect endangered species such as elephants, whales and walruses that have been a source of animal ivory. In one year a tagua palm produces the same amount of "ivory" as one female elephant. The tagua nuts, however, are harvested by hand without harming the tree.

I had the great honor to meet in person with H.H. The Dalai Lama and H.H. Sakya Trizin. I have received initiations in the Lower and Higher Yoga Tantras and my Tibetan name, Kunga Chodrin, from H.H. Sakya Trizin.
I also had the pleasure to meet and practice with Lama Kalgsang and Ane Kunga, from Sakya Phuntsok Ling, here in South Florida, as well as meeting several times with the incredible and energetic Lama Pema.
In between I have also had the honor to meet other Dharma Teachers, Lamas, Rimpoches, from all the Tibetan Denominations and have received their teachings and initiations as well.
In the past few months I've had the honor to meet over the phone with Lama Lobsang Dawa. His simplicity and honesty in life are what is helping me survive hard times. Lama Dawa has shown me how important is to first practice to be a human being before being a Dharma practicioner. The practice of Bodhichita is his passion. Lama Dawa has a way with words that makes you understand in the low level which hits your heart and wisdom in an instant! Thank you Lama Dawa for your pacience and for understanding that I'm a human being with the aspiration to receive your teachings at heart and with diligency I will follow it.
It would be the greatest pleasure before I pass into my next life to meet other Dharma Gurus, brothers, and sisters.

Three women die together in an accident and go to heaven.
When they get there, St. Peter says, "We only have one rule here in heaven: "don't step on the ducks!"
So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one.
Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw.
St. Peter chains them together and says, "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!"
The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck and along comes St. Peter, who doesn't miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.
The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps.
She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks, but one day St.
Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on ... very tall, long eyelashes, muscular, and thin.
St. Peter chains them together without saying a word.
The happy woman says, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?"
The guy says, "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck!"
have a wonderful weekend
(and watch where you step!)

"Not
thinking about anything is zen.
Once you know this walking,
standing, sitting or lying down, everything you do is zen.
To know that the mind is empty is to see the buddha.
The buddhas of the ten directions have no mind.
To see
no mind is to see the buddha."

A teacher tried to persuade her students to stop smoking. She, however, smoked, and her efforts were therefore not very convincing. She was propagating methods to overcome addiction while being a living example of addiction. Young people seldom do what you tell them; they do what you do. She realized her efforts would remain futile unless she stopped smoking herself, which she did with tremendous effort. Her freeing herself from her own addiction was a beautiful act of compassion towards her students. It was an inspiring example of liberation to her students, some of whom gave up smoking. In the final analysis, she also learned to love herself more, for she had also decreased the risks to her own health. Her compassion increased her own insight into the power of teaching without words.
Teaching without words, performing without actions:
that is the Master's way.
The teacher became wiser because of her own compassion.
Compassion promotes wisdom. Wisdom increases compassion.
thank you for your friendship
with love and gratitude

The Complaint
"The sea was much better," the traveler complained. "Whenever I got tired it at least had its currents to push me forward on my journey but you," he looked at the vast desert surrounding him, "you are of no help."
He went down on his knees, dead tired. When his breaths restored back to normalcy, a while later, he heard the desert's voice.
"I agree. I am of no help like the sea and thus I often depress people. But do you really think people will remember you for crossing the sea? Never! For the sea doesn't allow you to leave any mark. I, on the contrary, do. Thus, if you cross me, I swear, you will in turn immortalize yourself with the imprints you leave over me!"
The traveler got the essence and got up to walk on. "It's always about the imprints," his heart echoed.

No mind..no form...I only exist
Now ceased all will and thought
The final end of Nature's dance
I am It whom I have sought
My spirit aware of all the heights
I am mute in the core of the Sun
I barter nothing with time and deeds
My cosmic play is done
I am flying and flying
On Immortality's Wings
In Infinity's Sky
with love

You can be creative only when there is no abandoment
there is no sense of compulsion
no fear of not being
of not gaining...of not arriving
then there is great simplicity and with it love
