Celebrating the eleventh year as a band, Diabolic Intent will release their innovative new album, Neurotic Bloodworks this winter. The ten track new cd stands in its own class by pushing the boundaries in music. Chris Migdalski (guitar) has transcended to the 8 string guitar, but to set himself apart from the few others using 8 strings, the tuning was dropped much lower than has been done before to the ultra low E. To even set the sound farther away from the norm, Ant (bass/vocals) joined the elite class of fretless bass players by adding a fretless 6 string to the sonic low end. This new form of extreme metal has all the elements that have made Diabolic Intent over the last 11 years... and it clearly shows the evolutionary process that has began to take place in the sound of the music. The new album is being recorded at CCR Studios on the Space Coast in Florida during September/October 2009.
Diabolic Intent was founded in 1998 by Chris Migdalski (guitar), Ant (vocals), Mike Raines (bass), Ed Lopes (drums) and Tony Burns (guitar). A four song cassette demo was recorded and released. By 2000, Tony had been replaced with Matt Potter (guitar) and a long two and a half year tour schedule would follow with DI playing headline support for Cannibal Corpse, Mastodon, Hate Eternal, Monstrosity, Dying Fetus, Killswitch Engage, Chimaira, Diecast, Lamb Of God and many more great bands. In 2001, Diabolic Intent released their official full length debut, Reborn. The album has sold out with a limited print of 2100 copies. It can be found in every continent from South Africa to Europe to the USA. In 2002, Ed Lopes quit the band to follow other music interest. Matt Potter also pursued other music interest as well. By 2003, Kevin aka Mop (drums) joined the band and DI continued as a four piece. During the downtime, DI release, Live, Demos and Rarities in Spring 2003. Giving to the fans and making a stand against the whole music downloading lawsuits, DI offered the entire album for free download. This marked the first ever full album released for free download, legally, on the entire internet world. In winter 2004, DI recorded 3 new songs and released it as the FCC (Forcing Censored Content) EP. This album was also offered for free. Diabolic Intent continued to tour. In spring 2005, Mike Raines left the band. Instead of looking for a new member, Ant started playing bass along with his vocal duties... Now a brutal trio, DI began working on the next full length...
The free music DI offered over the years caught the ear of a predominant producer from Johannesburg, South Africa by the name of Ankha. in 2006, She offered DI a production deal and they quickly hopped onto the 23 hour plane flight to South Africa and spent 3 weeks 24/7 recording their 2007 album, The Cold Path Of Man. When the band got back to the states, they again gave the album away for free download. At press time, over 44,000 unique downloads have been registered. DI toured in support of Cold Path well into the end of 2007. After a little time off, DI got back to writing... This time, they had to take it to the next level... and the idea started brewing on fretless bass and 8 string guitars... We now arrive at the 11 year mark for the band... And the new album is all those years of blood sweat and tears into one final album written mostly on 7 string guitar... The transmutation of DI takes place and from here, the future is on a path of their own, walked by none other. The evolution of sound has begun...
