About me:

I'm: Kirk Marshall, a Brisbane-born(e) writer, freelance illustrator, independent film-maker, and mobilized environmentalist now relocated to Melbourne via Kanagawa-ken. I hold a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Creative Writing), with Distinction from the Queensland University of Technology, and a first-class Honours degree in Professional Writing from Deakin University. The style of my writing has been characterised by Melbourne's The Age as "creating its own (arch and fruity) humour." As of 2009, I'm working towards completing Reinventing Coffee, my novel manuscript. Carnivalesque: And, Other Stories, my debut short story collection will be published by Black Rider Press in 2010.
I'm also the editor of the forthcoming, international, annual English-language / Japanese bi-lingual literary journal,
Red Leaves / 紅葉; a panelist for the 2009 Emerging Writers' Festival; a panelist for the 2009 National Young Writers' Festival; a participating mentor through the 2009 Young Younger Writers Mentorship Program (YYWMP); and a non-fiction columnist for ISM: online, an international think-tank for creative youth.
