Brad Boerger (guitar, vocals) has credits that include regional favorites LA Ramblers, Red Zone, Tofu Teddy, The New Alligators, and the Coyote Project, which was a recording project of original music, released 2 cd's , and won the 2000 Pitch Klammie for Best Folk Act. Currently, other projects include Stranger Tractor, an offshoot of Coyote Project that is getting set to record a cd of more original material, and trying to find time re-start the band Flint Grey with his good friend and long time partner in crime Dave Leach, who is one the best song writers in the country and has never really received his due. Brad resides in the heart of Jayhawk country, Lawrence, KS.**********
John Hubbard (bass, vocals) has a history that includes No Code, a punk music quartet from Columbia, MO. , The Turbeaux Dogs, a Cajun and Zydeco influenced band and Blackthorne, a Celtic band whose credits include a contribution to the soundtrack of the movie "A Stitch in Time".**********
Chris Symmonds (drums, percussion, vocals) has been a professional drummer in the Kansas City area for the last 3 decades mostly playing in country music (Ridin' High) and classic rock projects. Chris also played in The Turbeau Dogs and the fine blues band "Night Train". Chris, John, and Bill have a musical relationship dating back to high school in the early 70's when the three of them played in bands together.
Mack Tilton (drums, percussion) is a veteran of area bands including stints with Dave Patmore, Turbeaux Dogs, Mason Chasers (with Chris and John) and currently plays with classic rockers The Rockin' Bones. Mack, Chris, John, Bill and Rick all live in the Kansas City area.**********
Bill Jackson (accordion, banjo, keys) brings a whole lot to our table. Although accordion would seem to be outside the realm of Grateful Dead music those recalling the shows with Bruce Hornsby on board can attest that this is not so. Bill is a graduate of the Kansas City Conservatory of Music. He has participated in numerous projects over the years including the previously mentioned Turbeaux Dogs and Blackthorne.
Influences
The Dead and other bands of the era such as The Band, Bob Dylan, Allman Brothers Band, Janis, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Quicksilver, Nick Gravenites, Brewer and Shipley, pretty much all the "progressive" bands of the era and specifically the San Francisco sound. More recent, though hardly new, influences would include Bruce Hornsby, Los Lobos, Mark Knopfler/ Dire Straits and of course Grateful Dead member solo projects / bands like Ratdog, Donna and the Tricksters, JGB, Phil and Friends.
Diamond Eyed Jack is the tangible expression of a musical conversation that members of this band have kept going, in one form or another, since the early seventies. We all are heavily influenced by the music of The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, The Band, as well as a thousand other seminal artists of the late 60's and early 70's because, among other reasons, it was the sound that we listened to most during the years we were "coming of age". To give you an idea of when that might have been, Europe '72 was a new release and no one save a few engineers had any idea of what would become cd's. In the last 5 years or so members have played in Grateful Dead influenced bands such as The Mason Chasers and ,most recently, The New Alligators. When The Gators went on hiatus Diamond Eyed Jack formed to keep the conversation going. It got a little quieter but a lot weirder which we equate with "interesting and fun". ..
