About diamond-sea pirates

in late 2004 thomas (g/v) and mutsh (b/v) who attended same classes and shared a similiar taste of music (and marijuana) started off the idea of a band. actually none of them knew what they're doing, but they knew what they wanted to do: playing music which is rather intense than beautiful, which is rather remarkable than perfect and which sounds absolutely not swiss. with that spirit in mind they came together with sigo (dr) who was a friend of thomas' sister. he's the only one in the band who had a musical eduaction...to make it short: he's aware of what he's doing behind the drums.

in 2006, they played their first gig in a forest. they didn't have a bandname yet, but decided in december 06 to call the band diamond-sea pirates as an hommage to the sonic youth song and, well, pirates in a band name was just too silly not to use it. it followed more gigs in forests, bars and clubs during 2007 and 2008.

in march 2009 they started off recording their diy-debut ep, or lp or el-p (don't know what it will be in the end) named "belgian chocolate and dutch cheese". as first impressions they put up the laconic-destroy-something "how they were told", punkrockin "ms strawberry" and "lonesome unicum". "ms strawberry" should be released too on "punk kills vol. 9" sampler by california-based 272 records in mid-august 2009.

they haven't set a releasedate for "belgian chocolate and dutch cheese" yet, but it should be a late summer 2009 release.
