The fiercely independent and original singer//songwriter Diana Anaid burst onto the scene with the brazen acoustic track 'I Go Off', but it was her second CD 'I Don't Think I'm Pregnant' that shook off any one hit wonder tag and secured her a fifth ARIA nomination as well as a second inclusion in Triple' J's Hottest 100 compilation CD ( 'Perfect Family').
After many successful Aussie tours and festivals, and with international press coverage, Diana released her third CD, 'Beautiful Obscene' through US independent record company Five Crowns to critical acclaim. Diana had the pleasure of having 'Blaring Out' and 'Addiction' on the airwaves in Australia whilst her track 'Last Thing' became the surprise run away hit of 2005 in the US, becoming i-tunes' 7th most popular song of that year.
Singing since she could walk, writing songs at nine and picking up the guitar at fourteen, Diana used music as an outlet for her abusive childhood. After losing her mum when she was a baby and her dad to jail more than once, she had a lot to write about.
Diana settled down as a teenager in the hippie commune of Tuntable Falls near Nimbin, northern NSW, and her first CD was sponsored by a member of Greenpeace. But even if it weren't for how involved Diana is in her community and charitable events, you could tell this petite vegan is a believer in "peace, love and brown rice"
After five years in Sydney , and with the last four years traveling between Australia and USA, in 2007 Diana formed her own record company 'Forola Music', and released an eagerly anticipated acoustic, solo CD, 'Live At The Bush Theatre', followed by the single 'Cheatin' On Me'.
A pioneer of acoustic female indie rock, and with her young son Stone in tow, Diana Anaid has become one of Australia's most admired singer/songwriters, and has forged a unique and respected path in today's fickle music business. For over a decade now, she has watched her fan-base expand through talent,integrity and originality matched with the power of music.
Diana's new self-titled CD is due out later this year. Co-produced by Diana, returning her to an acoustic driven in-your-face indie sound similar to her debut which still infatuates her worldwide legion of fans. Included on Diana's new CD is a song called 'Peace' to celebrate the anniversary of Woodstock and also her new single 'Cynical On Waking', a short and snappy track that is sure to please fans both old and new.
