diana/dd has a bunch of energy and passion she devotes to music. since as long as she can remember, growing up in santa barbara and going to that first piano lesson just shy of 5 years old and holding that raw egg in her tiny hand to learn the correct 'form'...20 years later she's still playing and singing strong. she's grateful to her parents for giving her the resources that have helped bring her to where she is today.
dd is now a professional working musician, playing thursdays 6-9p at a charming french restaurant nestled in dana point harbor (since mar '08.) (www.gemmellsrestaurant.com.) yes, she does take requests and has really enjoyed speaking to the guests - some of them whom she has seen 2-3 times now.
additionally, diana plays at weddings, charity events, banquets, borders bookstores, work events, you name it! she'll do it! she springs at opportunities to perform :). she also takes some piano students.
past experience has included random voices (ucla a cappella group), spring sing (ucla talent show), national anthems at ucla graduation and lakers game, musical theater, jazz choir, hip hop band (briefly, but yes) etc.
the writing credits on the songs in her profile go to her younger sister katherine (15), carol simpson, and van yabut...all talented composers/lyricists.
when it comes down to it, though...she loves blasting her music and singing super loudly in her car (with the windows rolled up..or down...doesn't matter), playing 'music video' in the mirror in her room, and singing on the fly if u ask ;)
