As you've probably already noticed, we are back again with two new songs, "In The Name Of Love" and "Happy Now?", which were recorded at Oulu University of Applied Sciences Studio during this spring. The songs were produced, recorded and mixed by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, 69 Eyes etc), and the final boombastic touch was laid down at Cutting Room, Stockholm. The songs can be blasted out through the 'high fidelity' MySpace player, or they can be downloaded in mp3 format from here.
And about the songs, well, listen yourself. Stoned in the name of love? Yeah, most probably. Big time.
Oh, and we also shot a D.I.Y. music video for the title song by using 20 N95 mobile phones.. (Rad!) The used recording methods and tools were probably astonishingly unorthodox, but nevertheless, we had a blast while fiddling with those little cams and shooting the video at our rehearsal cave, and hopefully that hilarious atmosphere comes across to all of you folks! Dian is a groovy rock band hailing from the city of Oulu, Northern Finland. Dian was established in 2002 and the band's musical essence can be labeled as 'groove-rock', which consists of rock, grunge, pop and mischeviously funky rhythms. The ambitious aim is to bring a new twist to the basic melancholic rock genre, which is overwhelmingly present in Europe, especially in Scandinavia.
During the seven years career, Dian has released number of demos, mostly recorded by themselves. "Here & Now" promotional single (2008) was recorded with the producer Jonas Olsson, but then again with the "VIP" demo (2009), the band continued working in their own rehearsal studio. The previous demo cds have reached good reviews in several internet zines and music magazines. The second demo won a demo competition at the finnish radio station "YleX", and the fourth demo-ep "Hypofunktion" was chosen as the demo of the month 10/06 in Finnish Inferno magazine. Webzine Noise.fi nominated Dian as a band of the month (9/08) after reviewing the "Here & Now" promo single.
So far Dian has rocked out without the tow from record labels, dwelling in the Finnish rockmusic's modern and underground world, flagging for more organic sounds and wider emotional scales. After rehearsing and recording the whole past year, Dian is all stuffed with new energy and can't wait to spread the funky word by playing some shows around Finland.
