  • Bio

Boston's DIANE BLUE is a soulful and sassy performer who delivers the goods vocally and through her harmonica ("harp") playing, serving up her own spin on soul, blues and R&B. Juke joint legend Big Jack Johnson dubbed Ms. Blue “A Monster” on the harp after she performed as his guest star at Red's Lounge in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Diane's strong, confident attack and energetic delivery make it nearly impossible to remain in one's chair. Diane has played harmonica and/or sung with international performers Sherman Robertson of Texas, Luther Guitar Jr. Johnson (former sideman for Muddy Waters), Big Jack Johnson (of Clarksdale, Mississippi) and Irma Thomas (the Soul Queen of New Orleans). In 2008, Ms. Blue toured with the Morblus Band in northern Italy, and subsequently did a New England tour in early 2009 with Roberto Morbioli of Verona, Italy. Ms. Blue returned to the international stage as the featured singer/harmonica player in the summers of 2009 and 2010 with Roberto Morbioli and the Morblus Band, playing festivals and clubs throughout Italy, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Germany. HONORS AND AWARDS Ms. Blue was nominated for "Best Blues/R&B Act" and "Best Female Vocalist in 2007 by the Providence Phoenix and also nominated "Best Local Blues Act" by Motif Magazine in 2007. In July 2010, Ms. Blue was nominated for "Best Female Vocalist" by The Blues Audience newsletter. Ms. Blue won the Massachusetts Blues Society blues challenge in August, 2010 and will compete in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN in February 2011. MUSIC Diane Blue has self-produced two CDs: (1) Here I Am and (2) Live at Chan's. Her CDs are available at: www.dianebluemusic.com.

Bio:

Ms. Diane Blue belts out a funky soul tune, then she’ll sing a sweet ballad, just before she blows you away on the blues harp. Ms. Diane Blue is soulful and sassy. On “Here I am”, her first full-length CD, Ms. Blue presents a collection of jazzy, bluesy, funky, groovy cover songs and three of her own original songs. With the finest professional musicians in the NorthEast, the performance of the collection of songs is top-notch. "'Restless' a Blue original, simmers with sensuality...Blue sings the heck out of her material, with enough tunefulness and sophistication to offset the power and the glory of her visceral harp playing," says Bob Gulla of the Providence Phoenix. Ms. Blue has shared the stage with Luther Guitar Junior Johnson, Sherman Robertson, and members of Roomful of Blues and Dave Howard & the High Rollers, to name a few. “When she gets her harp & mic going, the language is hard hitting blues. Strong, confident and tasteful” says Domenic Forcella of Blues Beat. Sample the CD at: www.cdbaby.com/cd/dianeblue. Buy it at: www.dianebluemusic.com.
