I've been influenced by a great many people. Probably most profoundly by Cornelius Reid - one of the worlds great voice teachers. I've also worked with and been influenced by Barbara Thornton, Stephen Stubbs, Robert Fountain, Harry van der Kamp, Andrew Lawrence King, Benjamin Bagby, Emma Kirkby, Anthony Rooley and Evelyn Tubb, The Hilliard Ensemble. I also admire the artistry of Jessye Norman, Christoph Pregardien, William Christie, Elliot Gardener, Jill Feldman and many others who I've forgotten.
Diane grew up in and attended University at the University of Wisconsin, Madison where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance (cum laude) degree. She immediately moved to Germany to continued her studies specializing in Renaissance and Baroque music at the Academy for Early Music in Bremen. She also studied mediaeval singing and music with Barbara Thornton.
Since receiving her certificate in Bremen she's worked primarily in Germany as a soloist in oratorios and Baroque operas as well as innumerable concerts. She's also performed with vocal ensembles including Sequentia (recording: O, Jerusalem), Frankfurt a cappella and the Lady Chapel Singers (recording: Magdalen and the other Mary). She is a founding member of Elysium, a group of 4 female vocalist who explore the intersection of mediaeval music with folk cultures around the world. Elysium has recorded several CDs, most notably "Auvergne Chants" with Decca Records.
Over the years she's been involved in several projects of contemporary music. She performed extensively with baroque lutenist, Meinhard Gerlach, and recorded a CD (Silence) of his original compositions for lute and soprano. Work with an actress and a pianist/composer performing original compositions by the pianist Jens-Peter Daniel on texts by Anne Sexton was particularly rewarding. After 14 years in Germany she has now relocated to London and is actively seeking collaboration of any sort as long as it is interesting!
