Latino music is the top selling genre in the country, yet it’s still often relegated outside the mainstream. Bridging that gap between industry and audience is, Rock y Roll Dia, a multi-tiered media cultural experience integrating Latino music, film and community outreach in one day in Austin, Texas, November 1st, 2008.
Dia was born in an effort to acknowledge Latinos’ many artistic and cultural contributions in the music world. Scheduled on Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), the Latino ritual of honoring past relatives and friends, the event pays homage to the past, present and the future via stellar concerts with multigenerational appeal and community outreach with Austin’s youth and families. Since inception, Rock y Roll Dia has donated a portion of event proceeds to benefit deserving local nonprofit organizations.
