Diaz jr. is a heavyrock/punkmetal band based in Helsinki, Finland. The current incarnation of Diaz jr. was formed in 2004 by Kai Stjerna (vocals), Simo Muhonen (guitar), Arttu Lindholm (bass) and Samu Hakala (drums). With this lineup Diaz jr. released two demos, "Gradient" (2004) and "The Ladder" (2005). Samu left the band soon after the release of "The Ladder".
The third demo "Lost Your Power On Us" (2005) was recorded with drummer Tommi Carttunen, who also played gigs with the band. After the third demo Diaz jr. started to look for a permanent drummer, and found Mikko Kymäläinen in late 2005. Around this time Kai also picked up his famous "Kitara" guitar, thus bringing depth and heaviness into Diaz jr's sound.
Band faced yet another lineup change in February 2007, when bass player Arttu decided to step aside. New bassist Kari Hietanen was recruited and the band began furious training. Results could be heard on the fourth demo, "Below", which was released in October 2007, as well as on 10 or so gigs during autumn 2007 and spring 2008. "Below" received pretty good reviews though the band felt quite critical of the release.
After "Below" some half a dozen new songs were written and tested on gigs. In September 2008 four of them were recorded and mixed at Drop Hammer Studios and mastered at Virtalähde Analog Audio. Now, everything is its right place. Find a place where you can "Scatter the Ashes" of Diaz jr.
