Loyalty should not only be respected, it should be honored! In a world
always in search for the NEXT best thing its hard to fathom anyone
staying in one place for 10 years,let alone staying with the same
people. As hard as is it may be to believe, that's exactly what 23 yr
old D.I has done, "A&O Records started in my bedroom wit P and an
instrumental CD...I'd rather do this alone than find a new crew"
Born 1984 in Park Slope Brooklyn to a Puerto Rican mother and a Black
Father. D grew up surrounded by music, and quickly developed an affinity for
the hip-hop culture, thanks in large part to his mom. "Moms used to play
that Run DMC and Kurtis Blow all the time, by the time I started school I didn't even wanna hear childrens music at all, then Rakim
dropped...WOW!" Captivated by the R's legendary delivery a 4 yr old D.I
began reciting every verse, replacing curses and unfamiliar phrases
with his own words. It wasn't long before those Rakim verses were replaced by his own. Garnering a reputation in the neighborhood and later in school
for having a huge vocabulary and a way with words D wasn't even aware of
his ability "I really just liked music so when I didn't know the words
to a song I made up my own, I was probably rappin for 8 or 9 years
before I realized that I could rap" Once the young mc discovered his
gift (and learned that every rhyme isn't spontaneous) it was a whirlwind
"I just went nuts I bought 5 composition books and 1 spiral notebook,
within a month I had to go buy more" After teaching himself to rap on
beat the hungry emcee hunted down any instrumental he could find and
began recording 90 minute freestyle tapes on his boombox at home. "I
wasn't really tryin to make no money I just wanted people to listen" It was during this time that D.I met his cohort-to-be P. Dinero.
In the years since then there have been several failed recording deals, a couple of sobadical's, and a whole lot of growing up, but the kid they call Dizzy has persevered through it all with a style matched only by his ever
distinct voice, and eloquent flow. "Unlike so many of today's hustle rappers Dizzy prides himself on his microphone prowess and he feels that is what seperates him from the pack "I really do this! This is what I do, I don't know about the other guys but I care if you think I'm nice, and once you hear me you will!"
