Die Cheerleader broke up in the mid 90s. So don't spam us with your stupid myspace music marketing services. THANKS.
by Henry Rollins (from the Son of Filth press release)
Die Cheerleader formed in the summer of 1991. Since then they have only had one lineup change. In mid 1992 the original bass player left to be replaced by Debbie Quargnolo. The band itself is an interesting mix. The band's lead vocalist, Sam Ireland, is Irish. The aforementioned Debbie is Italian, guitarist Rita Blazyca is Scottish and drummer Andy Semple is English.
The band played all over England, headlining their own shows and opening for larger acts. In the summer of 1993, Iggy Pop heard the band and invited them to open his two London dates. He liked what he saw and invited them to open for all the dates on his fall tour of Europe.
1994 saw the band working hard in the studio and in the practice space. Later in the year the final mixing was done and we have the 'Son Of Filth' album ready for 1995.
The combination of geography and attitude of the band members makes for some truly great music. To describe the band's work would be a waste of adjective-laden time. Rarely does a band's music speak for itself these days. The lyrics and the music are coming from the soul. I know I am biased in my opinion of the band, hell, I might be their biggest fan, but even still, I find myself playing 'Son Of Filth' over and over and never getting tired of it. Quite the opposite. All I hear is the awesome potential for their future work. I hope they remember me when I'm mowing their lawns. - Henry Rollins
Die Cheerleader called it a day in 1996/7.

There's a song that has probably been forgotten about, now up in the Colossus space featuring Sam and Andy and myself. It was made under the band name of P.C.P, but we (me & andy) only recorded 2 songs!! This one DX393, still sounds rather cool I reckon, I heard it for the first time in years yesterday! You can check it out before someone complains and says take it out of there!!

Hey DC fans, I can't help but be reminded of DC each time I see one of our local (Oxford) bands 'Phyal' play, why not check them out at www.myspace.com/phyal and go see them sometime!
I got to hangout a few times with these ladies and one gent when they were on tour here in the states with Filter. Debbie and I talked on the phone and wrote each other a few times. What happened to Debbie? I was in a band called Sedah back then.
