DIE RESONANZ STANONCZI - Live at Jazzit
(No Man's Land,Berlin)

„So, I get a couple of samples in from No Man's Land in Germany by this group I've never heard of and I don't look carefully at it and I put it in the player, and I put one of them in and the thing is playing and it's this very Eastern European-influenced music with accordion, clarinets, saxes and drums. Then I look and see it's called Die Resonanz Stanonczi and I think "hmmmm" and then after a while it's playing and I'm totally digging it and thinking to myself "man, this band sounds like a natural for collaborating with Amy Denio". Then the singing starts and it *IS* Amy Deno. Well, I'll be shat upon, as an old friend used to say. Another great one for Amy-fans! "Central-East music would be an appropriate expression to describe this music. Its foundation forms a typical instrument for popular music from Central Europe (Austria), but musically speaking, we are located in Eastern Europe. In this project “The Stanonczi Resonance” the great love for Eastern European music and its possibilities for presentation of emotions are combined with other Central European influences is put into work. Steiner Johannes is the “musical drive” behind the project. One of his major concerns is to integrate the diatonic accordion – a traditional instrument in popular music – into other musical styles to show new possibilities of the instrument. The music is self-composed and –arranged."

DIE RESONANZ STANONCZI - Live at Jazzit
(No Man's Land,Berlin)

A quartet formed by Johannes Steiner (diatonic harmonica), Amy Denio (sax, clarinet, voice), Norbert Asen (clarinet, chalumeau) and Robert Kainar (percussion, drums), DRS play beautiful spoolings of imaginative Balkan-influenced pranks that should sound delightful to the ears of lovers of RIO symbols such as Zamla Mammaz Manna or Etron Fou LeLoublan (...or Fred Frith circa "Gravity", for that matter). Steiner's harmonica constitutes the foundation for most of the tracks, mainly characterized by a contagious joyous effervescence that never trespasses the borders of indiscipline. The group's footloose aesthetic allows for repeated raids through the typically challenging festival of fractured meters and scorching changes, yet the music is absolutely not difficult to digest, maintaining its core intonation well within the realms of a systematic give-and-take with the audience. This gleeful complexion permeates the whole release, which finds its bigger success in this ruffling of understandable concepts and decorations embellished by magnificent contrapuntal tapestries (check the quasi-Bachian progression of "Ostseel") and excellent soloism, both instrumental and vocal. Neighbourly and stimulating at one and the same time, "Live at Jazzit" will keep you good company for those moments in life when introspection is not a must.>

DIE RESONANZ STANONCZI - Live at Jazzit
(No Man's Land,Berlin)

For instruments with bellows, this German record label had been weak, at least until when they published the first self-titled LP by Guy Klucevsek. Within Die Resonanz Stanonczi there's the scene of the diatonische harmonika from the Austrian tradition, decreased however in an eastern european context with jazzy solos from alto sax & clarinet (and even the chalmeau). Other times, the woods assume classical goings-on, and in 4 pieces, you can hear Amy Denio's virtuosic vocal solos.
