Diggabone:
1 in Yachats
The band stays true to the artisan spirit of their northwest home. The Portland-based quartet’s repertoire is made up mostly of original songs, drawing on the band’s diverse influences in bluegrass, jazz, and funk, intermixed with an occasional eclectic cover tune
Diggabone performs as a true ensemble, trading off lead vocals and solos throughout their performances. The three distinct songwriters explore a healthy variety of musical styles. Band founder, guitarist Eric Bohne's original tunes range from down-home country and bluegrass numbers to intricate jazz pieces, all unified by his dedication to his instrument and the stunning honesty of his lyrics. Keyboardist Dave Nicolardi takes the vocal lead on some of Diggabone’s more light-hearted songs. Mixing pop/rock stylistics with a wry sense of humor, Dave’s mix of original and cover tunes contribute a sense of levity to Diggabone shows. Rounding out the band’s vocal mix is bassist James Mackessy, delivering songs spanning blues and country with his captivating, breathtaking voice. On bass, James lays a solid foundation for Diggabone’s extended grooves. Drummer Justin Burkhart adds an almost animalistic element to the band, occasionally donning a Mexican wrestling mask when the occasion calls for it. Always experimenting, Justin is constantly reinventing his role in the band using his ever-growing collection of percussive toys.
In their live performances, Eric, Dave, James, and Justin take advantage of their differing styles, producing music that unique, but distinct. Over the course of their shows, the band progresses from more structured songs to looser, more free-flowing pieces, constantly adapting to both their own moods and those of their audiences. Maintaining a collective focus on seeking out new musical experiences, playing in new places, and meeting new people, the band travels extensively, playing at bars, brewpubs, parties and festivals throughout the northwest.
I just wanted to say "hello" and let you know that I haven't forgotten about your wonderful music, I've just been a busy teacher/student. I'll try to stop by and see you at Clinton as soon as I can. Happy way late New Year and I hope all is well these days!
Thanks for the add. I have always loved your music & have not seen you play in along time. Remember 45th street pub? I use to see you play there, among other places. Have a great week.
What up dudes... great getting to open for you guys at the Green Room last time. What was that a freakin year ago!?! We just gotta do it again soon here.
