Since the late eighties, guitarist/singer Harald te Grotenhuis and bass player Alco Emaus are roaming the rock/metalscene of western Europe. Having gained experience in band like: Social Disaster, Alimentation, Non Divine and Wicked Mystic, these guys know the ins and outs. Harald: “I’ve been bankrupt many times, not to mention the nervous breakdowns, booze and the wrong women, all because of or all for the cause of rock ‘n roll…” Alco: “once you’re in, you won’t get out, even family live didn’t change that.” During the summer of 2004 they find drummer Benjamin Kip and start writing songs. Alco: “This time we wanted to combine the heaviness with old blues and a touch of southernrock” After one show which consisted mainly of material based on jams, the threesome decides to carry on because of the joy of it. They “dig” what they are doing so they decide this must be “the music for which no God waits but the whole world yearns”: “Diggeth”, at least they yearn for it and they couldn’t care less! Not stressed by any demand, both from audience nor record companies, they use 2005 to write a variety of songs that are heavy and slightly southern rock flavoured. The first 3 completed songs, One More Yesterday, Heavy Heart and No Man’s Land become Diggeth’s first release: the “One More Yesterday”-single, released in 2005 on there own “do it yourself ”T34 Records. 2005 to 2007 is filled with over 100 gigs all over the country and the boys find themselves as support act for legendary speed metal band Exodus and on the famous Liberation Day Festival in Wageningen. At the end of 2007 the band switched drummers: Throughout 2008 drummer Roel- Jah-Rule- Bruggink was part of the band with whom they played some support slots for legendary guitar player Michael Schenker (UFO/MSG). Roel turned out not to be the right fit, though it was a lot of fun, wasn’t it Jah-Rule? This spring Diggeth found a hopefully long-lasting associate: drummer Jeffrey Hartjes who has been playing for many years in several bands and studio-projects. With Jeffrey on drums the band has found renewed rock’n roll power. Harald: “I feel 15 again; I even shaved off my beard to fit with the pre-pubic hair attitude that is fuelling this band again. Also I can look at 18 year old females again without going to prison!” 2009 will see the return to stage on several festivals and the band will share the stage with the legendary reformed Sacred Reich. So watch out and lock your daughters and dogs safely away when Diggeth comes to your town! Diggeth
