What is it about the band Digital Mindy that just stays with you? The one consensus among fans, booking agents, radio stations, and venues, is that whether you love it or hate it Digital Mindy sticks with you. Everything is memorable, from the band name to the image and most importantly the music.. It is an intense dark sound that captures deep emotion and provokes thought without being negative or morose. At times their music is very sensual and provocative, not only in lyrics, but in tone and musical expression. They always leave a little bit to the imagination, inviting you to go along with them on their musical journey. Their individual performances are intense, full of life and energy and their banter is open and inviting and you just know and even more, feel that they are completely sincere.
So what is it about Digital Mindy that makes you want to hear more? They have their own style that blends rock, electronica, orchestral, hard driving guitars and intense percussion into their own unique way of telling their musical views on “Life, Art and Love…with a Dash of Politics”. They somehow manage to steer away from today’s traditional cut and paste template that dominates current song writing trends. Every song is distinctly “Digital Mindy” without being repetitious. That is very… refreshing.
If you have only “listened” to Digital Mindy and have not seen them perform live, then you are missing out on something very Special. What is great about going to see a Digital Mindy show, is that you go in expecting to see a typical band and what you get is a musical and visual treat. Though you are not physically on stage with them, they leave you with the feeling that you were part of their show and part of their world. They are simply doing what they enjoy most, making music “they” like to play and listen to and ask you to come along with them.
The band itself is made up of three musicians:
Nick Santiago is the creative force behind Digital Mindy’s songs. He writes the music and lyrics, plays keyboards and synthesizers and sings the lead vocal parts. Nick’s stage presence is commanding, yet friendly and open and when he sings, you can “feel” him sing. He leads his band into areas that most bands won’t go and feels that every single show, every single fan is important.
Jon Santiago, Nick’s brother and Digital Mindy’s guitar player and back-up vocalist, is also co-founder of the band. His guitar arrangements always contribute just the right touch to further give each song that distinct Digital Mindy sound. He completely amazes and captivates you as he moves on stage.
Justin Hebert, helming the drums and percussion, is a life long friend of Nick and Jon’s. Quite simply, Justin’s drumming will leave you in awe. Influenced by his mother who also played drums, Justin began playing at the age of eight and now is simply one of the best on the scene.
In 2006 Digital Mindy went on two U.S. tours, the most recent with Metropolis Records "PIG" lead by The Iconic Raymond Watts. The other tour with Invisible Records recording artist, Project 44. An ASCAP Member, Digital Mindy was recently solicited by MTV for a music licensing deal and some of their music has been used on several MTV show episodes. Their song "She Whispered" was recently licensed by Night Light Films to be used during the closing credits of their soon to be released independent horror movie "The Fear Chamber". Their music also enjoys heavy rotation on national radio station IChannel HD.
They have opened for various major and independent label acts who include but are not limited to: Chevelle, 30 Seconds to Mars, PIG, Five Bolt Main, Rikets, Allele, Crossbreed, Mindless Faith, Michael Graves of the Misfits, Trashlight Vision, Deadstar Assembly, Bella Morte, Project 44 and Vendetta Red.
