Dig Our Gear

Hi, my name is JP and I am in the beginning stages of starting a clothing company. Here's a little background story on how I got started.

I am currently a student at Northeastern University, and ever since I got into college, nothing really clicked. I jumped from major to major, and I finally ended up in Philosophy (doesn't really relate to the clothing industry, I know, but I enjoy it). I am continuing to get my degree in Philosophy, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with it once I graduate. This is where I started thinking about my other options.

I was always a decent "artist" in high school and I continued to draw and doodle in my notebooks in college. I took Architecture for a semester because I thought I could put my art to use in a major, but it was just too much to handle. So, about a year ago, I found that I could put my art to a good use. I had been influenced by a number of different clothing companies, and decided to start my own. All I needed was a topic that I could base my drawings on, and a name to go with it. And that is how I came upon Dig Our Gear.

In December of 2008, I came up with a design of a dog with a t-shirt for a head (if you didn't pick up on it already, now you know). But I didn't have a name that could go with it. I went through a number of different name structures, and finally settled with Dig Our Gear on January 1st, 2009. I guess I could say that my New Year's Resolution was to actually make this work. It was on that day that Dig Our Gear was established, and now it is ready to be released.
