   Dig Your Roots's Blurbs
About me:

Dig Your Roots is a project that promotes both campus and community radio and independent artists in many genres, all in Canada. Past projects include: Hip Hop, Spoken Word, Electronic Dance, Roots, Aboriginal, and Creative Jazz.

Dig Your Roots - Out with a Creative Bang
In March 2007, we bid a fond farewell to Dig Your Roots (well, at least for now, anyway). We ended with an incredible run with the "Creative Jazz" series. We are very proud of the fact that "Dig Your Roots - Creative Jazz" was the all-time NUMBER ONE JAZZ ALBUM on campus and community for 2007!! Thanks also to all those who tuned in and helped out.

In total, we've seen 5 really fantastic years of great independent artists, all of whom are still here! So be sure to visit each of our genre pages for hundreds of artists. You can check out everyone's tracks along with their bios and photos online at www.DigYourRoots.ca.
2002-2003 -- Hip Hop
2003-2004 -- Spoken Word
2003-2004 -- Electronic Dance
2004-2005 -- Roots
2005-2006 -- Aboriginal
2006-2007 -- Creative Jazz

Thank you! We couldn't have done it without you!
This project would not happen without the support of our campus and community stations and associations. They play a vital part in defining and communicating a national identity. Artists that would otherwise go unheard are transmitted through their airwaves:
AMARC * Caper Radio, Sydney * CFBI Cambridge Bay * CFBU St. Catharines * CFBX Kamloops * CFMH Saint John * CFRC Kingston * CFRO Vancouver * CFRU Guelph * CFUR Prince George * CFUV Victoria * CFXU Antigonish * CHCR Killaloe * CHLS Lillooet * CHLY Nanaimo * CHMA Sackville * CHRW London * CHRY Toronto * CHSR Fredericton * CHUO Ottawa * CILU Thunder Bay * CIRO Kelowna * CiTR Vancouver * CIVL Abbottsford * CJAI Stella * CJAM Windsor * CJLY Nelson * CJMP Powell River * CJMQ Lennoxville * CJSF Burnaby * CJSR Edmonton * CJSW Calgary * CJTR Regina * CJUC Whitehorse * CJUM Winnipeg * CKDU Halifax * CKLN Toronto * CKMO Victoria * CKMS Waterloo * CKUT Montreal * CKUW Winnipeg * CKXU Lethbridge * Cortes Community Radio Society, Manson's Landing * CSCR Scarborough Fusion Radio * Gabriola Co-op Radio, Gabriola

Dig Your Roots would also like to thank:
-- The independent artists who have contributed their work, time, and support (WOOHOO!!! Thanks for being a part of our project!);
-- Corus Entertainment for funding the project;
-- All our tech people, especially Magnus Thyvold and Derek Warren, Bryce Colenbrander, Backbone Technology, (Sal Milia), Don Dunlop, and Thom Seibel;
-- Terry Armstrong at Eyeteaser Graphics, Harris Newman, Jarrett Bartlett/Little Bullhorn Prods., Kris Mah, Shannon Swan, and Rolf Klausener;
-- The dedicated people working and volunteering at campus and community radio, and the independent music and spoken word circles in this country;
-- Everyone who tunes in to us and for supporting your artists and stations;
-- All of our previous regional coordinators (see the contact page for a full list);
-- Caroline Cote, Magnus Thyvold, and Russell (Rusty) Gragg for incubating the seeds of this project with ideas and proposals;
-- The 2001-2002 NCRA/ANREC Board of Directors for allowing this all to unfold the way that it has and "watering the seeds" (Peig Abbott, Lori Guest, Chantelle Japp, Genevieve Isabelle Racine, Rob Schmidt, Magnus Thyvold, Tristis Ward, Fiona York);
-- And, once again, thanks to the stations who have been the ground for this project -- from promotions to links with artists to airing the broadcasts.

Dig Your Roots,
Whaaaaaaaat?!?! Your last project??? There are so many independent artists across Canada that have benefited from your efforts, we hate to see you go. Thank you once again for all of your incredible work and support for independent music in Canada! You've brought together and strengthened our music community and made Canada a better place to live with your help in sharing the Canadian Artists' perspective. All the best.
Cheers!

Hey Dig Your Roots - want to own a piece of twelve34?

This is definetely one of the coolest ideas anybody has come up with in a while - you get to buy a piece of the band, help us record a top-notch album - and then make money when we sell records. And you can at any point get your money back - or own a part of another band!

Go to http://www.sellaband.com/twelve34 to buy a piece of us today! :)

Or go to our profile to get our latest album SINFUL MELODY! We've dropped the price on it so that everybody can enjoy it!
