The Nicholls Players

Mar 15 2009 6:35 AM

It’s just another quiet morning in the Brewster family home – tea is being served, newspapers are being read, and there’s a body in the window seat! The laugh-out-loud thriller comedy Arsenic and Old Lace centers around the Brewster ladies, Abby and Martha. These two sweet old ladies take it upon themselves to help lonely old men find piece – by poisoning them. Uproarious comedy ensues when the Brewster nephews Mortimer, a theatre-hating dramatic critic, and Jonathan, a homicidal maniac, enter the picture.

The Nicholls Players of Nicholls State University will be presenting Joseph Kesselring’s Arsenic and Old Lace from March 19 -22. Productions will begin at 7:30pm with a Sunday matinee at 3pm. All productions will be held in Talbot Theatre. Tickets will be $10 for general admission and $5 for students of all ages.

To reserve tickets or find out more information, feel free to call the Office of Mass Communications at 985-448-4586.

1st- I know ya'll saw A Raisin in the Sun the other night. Unfortunately, that was a sad day for Black Theatre across the nation. 2nd- As a Black History question of the month, who remembers the Dillard Players Guild ca. 1939?

The Pirates Charles

Feb 6 2008 12:30 PM

Come and rock out with the Pirates Charles throughout the month of February! We'll be playing two different shows at the Redwood Bar and Grill in Downtown LA, a fabulously steezy bar of piratical proportions - first is on February 5 and is a charity show to raise money to rebuild post-Katrina New Orleans, and the other is on Feb 15 - a gigantic promotional party for PyrateCon2008!

And while we're on the subject of raising money to benefit New Orleans, ye oughta be checkin' out 'Lafitte's Return: Pirates for the Preservation of New Orleans Music' - a compilation of pirate music from artists spanning the seven seas, all to raise money specifically for music education in New Orleans, for which there is practically no budget in the wake of how expensive the rebuilding of the damaged city is. It's a two volume set, sold separately, that features two of our original songs, "Raise the Whiskey High" and "Sand in the Rum".

And of course, don't forget to come rock out with us and our good friends The Atma along with Ledfoot and The Virgineers at the Verity Room on Friday, February 8!
